Scene

Family-friendly chain hotel with Minnesota's largest water park

The Radisson Hotel Bloomington does a good job of catering to both vacationing families and business travelers looking for a relatively low-key hotel. The lobby is decked out to resemble a ski lodge, with wood-and-stone pillars, leather sofas, a grand fireplace, and rowing oars on the walls. Other than a few brightly colored rugs, the large room is done in earth tones, much like the rooms and suites.
Without a doubt, the main attraction at the Radisson Hotel Bloomington is the Water Park of America, where there's plenty of space for the myriad children running around, as well as their parents. The restaurants -- in particular the large Split Rock -- are similarly family-friendly and lively.

Location

Connected to the Water Park of America, five minutes from the Mall of America, and 20 minutes from downtown Minneapolis

The Radisson Hotel Bloomington is connected to the Water Park of America -- touted as Minnesota's largest indoor water park -- and just a five-minute free shuttle ride from the Mall of America, one of the state's most popular family attractions. The hotel is just over five miles, or a 10-minute free shuttle ride, from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in and around the Mall of America, and there are several restaurants and hotels of a similar caliber in the surrounding streets just outside the Radisson. Downtown Minneapolis is just under 20 minutes away by car, but cabs can get expensive. The hotel offers free parking.

Rooms

Chain-style rooms with modern amenities and family-friendly options like bunk beds

The Mall of America and Water Park of America are bustling with activity, but the rooms at the Radisson Hotel Bloomington offer tranquil respite. Large rooms and suites are decorated in earth tones, from the light wood desk and dressers to the beige-tinted rugs. Decor is in line with what one expects from an upper-middle-range chain, and its modern enough, even if there are minor signs of wear and datedness (the popcorn ceilings, for example, were missed in the last renovation). Amenities include in-room vanities, duvet-style comforters, microwaves, mini-fridges, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms come with bunk beds and sofa beds, catering to families.

Features

Largest indoor water park in Minnesota, day spa, three restaurants, and a shuttle to the airport and Mall of America

The extensive Water Park of America is the Radisson Hotel Bloomington's main feature, with its bridges, water slides, in-pool basketball hoops, and fake lighthouse, but it's worth noting that access is not included for guests of the hotel. The Trillium Spa is also located on-site and offers a menu of massages and other treatments, and the fitness center offers modern equipment for exercise at any hour. There are three dining options at the hotel: Camp Many Point serves family favorites like pizza and hot dogs, the Sleepy Eye Café offers more casual snacks and coffee, and the Split Rock Grille serves more substantial meals. Free shuttles to and from the airport and the mall are also included, and there's a business center that's free for guests to use.
