Scene

Charming boutique hotel popular with couples

The charming Zero George Street hotel comprises three Charleston
residences and two brick carriages houses with beautiful details like faded
brick, crisp cream siding, and gray shutters. Rustic elements like exposed brick walls in the lobby are paired with stylish, sophisticated decor, while elegant parlors combine classic and contemporary style for a chic effect. There's plenty of breezy porches and patios that offer romantic spots for the many couples who stay at the
hotel. The lobby is located in the original
kitchen carriage house which dates back to 1804 and features a display kitchen with a French
enamel cooking range where staff members prepare food, filling the air with sweet and savory scents of food to be served at the restaurant. Zero Café & Bar features indoor and outdoor dining under a covered porch or on a
stone patio. The courtyard of the hotel also features picturesque seating areas
on wooden benches set in a gravel yard surrounded by charming manicured bushes
and a water fountain.

Location

On the edge of the Historic District, a short walk to King Street

Zero George Street is located on a busy
corner right on the outskirts of the historic district of Charleston, with plenty of old houses and
charming side streets nearby. It’s less than a 10-minute walk to King Street,
one of the busiest shopping and dining areas in the neighborhood, and City
Market, where vendors sell their goods in open-aired buildings. Marion Square, a
lovely, large park, as well as Aquarium Wharf are also under a 10-minute walk.

Rooms

Elegant, contemporary rooms in soft colors; several with shared, furnished piazzas

Rooms at the hotel are beautifully decorated in soft, creamy hues with
clean white bedding, ruched curtains, and wooden floors.
Darling bedside tables and custom-designed white armoires bring a mix of old
and new. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, Keurig coffee machines, minibars with free bottled
water and juice, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have shared furnished piazzas. Pretty, white-tiled bathrooms are a bit small, but have marble
vanities, walk-in showers, full-sized Malin + Goetz bathroom amenities, and terry bathrobes. Travelers should note that street-side rooms get noise that might pose an issue for some.

Features

Free gourmet breakfast, formal parlors, renowned restaurant, and cooking school, plus free bicycle rentals and Wi-Fi throughout

The hotel serves a free gourmet breakfast
that includes quiche, biscuits, and homemade granola. In the afternoon, a cheese
and wine reception is served and includes one glass of wine per guest. The
hotel has a Miele espresso machine available for guests to use all day. Free
umbrellas and bicycles are available to borrow, and printing services are
offered. The hotel has a renowned restaurant on-site
that serves a seasonal menu with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. There's also a cooking school with a variety of classes offered. The property is full of pretty outdoor spaces for relaxing, including lovely porches, a courtyard, and furnished piazzas, and there are several elegant parlor rooms available
for private meetings and events.
