Silver Legacy Resort Casino

A 180-foot-high composite dome reflecting the skies of Reno from sunrise to sunset covers the casino floor of the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino. Underneath, a 120-foot high mining rig belonging to the fictional silver baron Sam Fairchild sits at the center of the casino’s hourly laser light shows. The hotel is also connected to two other casinos -- the Eldorado and Circus Circus -- via indoor walkways. There are a variety of places to dine, including a Sterling's Seafood Steakhouse offering a Sunday Champagne brunch and Hussong’s Cantina, known for its original margaritas. There are also several bars, with live bands and DJs on the weekend. The hotel attracts big-name entertainment (past entertainers include Rascal Flatts and Paul Anka) in its exposition hall, which can seat more than 1,600 guests. When it’s time for some fresh air, there’s an outdoor pool and hot tub surrounded by lounge chairs, couches, and cabanas, where guests can take in views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. 

Silver Legacy Resort and Casino is located on Virginia Street, the main road in the River Walk District, which has plenty of restaurants and shops. The famous Reno Arch, announcing it to be "the biggest little city in the world," is just one block away. The resort is connected to two other casinos, Circus Circus and Eldorado, by indoor walkways, and is within walking distance of several other casinos. It’s a three-minute walk to the Reno Events Center and a 15-minute walk to the Nevada Museum of Art. Reno-Tahoe International Airport is around a 10-minute drive, and it's about an hour's drive to Lake Tahoe.

Rooms at the resort are pleasantly modern, with dark patterned carpeting and light damask wallpaper, though style doesn't rise above typical chain hotel-level charms. Starting at 336 square feet (31 square meters), these aren't the largest rooms to be had in Reno, but they are still relatively spacious, and Premium Rooms come in at 500 square feet (46 square meters). Lamps with drum-shaped shades and red leather computer chairs add a bit of visual flare. Heavy tan-and-brown striped drapes and taupe armchairs in the Standard Room that we visited were a bit dated, though dark wood furniture looks sharp and almost has a vintage flare, with white borders on dressers and headboards. Spa Suites are available with larger living areas and whirlpool tubs, though decor is essentially the same as other room categories. All rooms have flat-screen TVs (though most only have 32-inch TVs that seem a bit small), and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms have white tile floors, large mirrors, and shower/tub combinations with curved curtain rods, though Spa Suites only have walk-in showers in the bathrooms. Some guests have reported key card issues.

The resort has a casino with slot machines, tables, Keno, and a race and sports book. There’s a variety of live entertainment at different venues throughout, including big-name musicians, comedians, and DJs. The hotel has an outdoor pool and whirlpool with mountain views. There’s a small fitness center with modern equipment, a hair salon, and spa offering beauty treatments and massages, as well as an indoor health club with a sauna and whirlpool. There are several dining spots to choose from on-site, including a grill, a seafood and steakhouse restaurant, an oyster bar, a Mexican restaurant, and a Starbucks. Breakfasts are not included with room rates. The hotel has free parking as well as an airport shuttle, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout. There is a dedicated concierge on site and the hotel has conference and meeting space for conventions and events. There are several shops on site, including a kids' sweets store and a florist.
