The Hotel Duc de Saint-Simon is a classic choice for those seeking a traditional Parisian hotel with romantic and historic flair. This is where Lauren Bacall stayed while in Paris (always in Suite One, if you're wondering), which might help describe the clientele here: people of a certain age, with a certain budget. Most of them are quite loyal to the hotel, thanks to its atmosphere and great Left Bank location in tony Saint-Germain-des-Pres. The four-pearl property stands in St-Germain-des-Pres in the 6th Arrondissement, with 24 guest rooms that feature chateau-style decor—colorful toile wallpaper, ornate canopies, and pinch pleat drapes—and upscale amenities like flat-screen TVs, well-stocked minibars, electric kettles, and L'Occitane bath products. The hotel's best features is its incredible location, surrounded by countless shops and cafes, and within a short stroll of iconic spots like Les Deux Magots and Cafe de Flore. There's no full-service restaurant or wellness amenities on-site, but there's a daily breakfast buffet for an extra charge and free Wi-Fi. Travelers looking for a hotel in the hood with a gym and spa might prefer the pricier Relais Christine. 

Less than a 10-minute walk to the Notre Dame Cathedral, Holiday Inn Paris – Notre Dame is an upper-mid-range chain hotel with 108 modern rooms in a convenient Latin Quarter location close to several sights. The hotel has a roof terrace with a seasonal bar offering city views, as well as a stylish lobby lounge serving cocktails and healthy snacks. Business travelers can take advantage of the three meeting rooms, and there's a small business area on-site. Breakfast and Wi-Fi are extra with most rates, however, and though rooms are stylish and outfitted with modern amenities, some of them are small and have tiny bathrooms. Travelers might also want to compare rates with Hotel Saint-Louis en l'Isle, a small, mid-range hotel with pretty rooms on an island in the Seine.

The seven-room, mid-range La Maison Saint Germain offers charming apartments in the heart of Paris. While it does have an excellent location in the Latin Quarter, with multiple major attractions reachable on foot in 15 minutes, this property doesn't offer much in the way of on-site features. There's no restaurant, bar, or business center, and the staff only mans reception during daytime hours. For meals, guests are expected make use of their units, which have kitchenettes or full kitchens. And some have antique furnishings, terraces, and washing machines. A few of the apartments on the high floors even have Eiffel Tower views. But the terri-cotta floors and some of the old-fashioned furniture are less delightful. A better option could be the Hotel Lutetia, which has equally excellent views plus restaurants, a bar, spa, and even a cigar lounge.
