Villa Elisa was originally built in the 19th-century as a private villa. Today, the small boutique is decorated in the Belle Epoque style with green shutters, Italian gardens, and citrus trees planted around the outdoor swimming pool, surrounded by blue and white sun loungers and umbrellas. There are ample nooks and crannies outside for cozying up with a book in privacy. First floor public spaces have pretty details like ornate gold mirrors, hardwood floors, and red floral rugs.

Villa Elisa is tucked away off the street on garden grounds but still within walking distance of Bordighera's restaurants, and shops; it's around a 15-minute walk to the beach and the town's long pedestrian promenade. Parking is free but fills up quickly so reservations are recommended. Rooms and suites at Villa Elisa range in terms of size and decor, but electric kettles, flat-screen TVs, and minibars with bottled water are standard. The comfort room has a masculine feel with blue plaid bedding and drapery. Some rooms have private furnished balconies but garden views are far superior to distant sea views. Rooms are not soundproof and some guests have complained about street noise from Via Romana. L'Occitane products are a nice touch in otherwise basic bathrooms with single sinks and (most) shower stalls. All rooms are air-conditioned seasonally.

For a small property, Villa Elisa has lots of free and fun features. A breakfast buffet, parking, and Wi-Fi are free, as is use of the sauna, though parking reservations in advance are recommended. The swimming pool isn't huge, but there are plenty of sun loungers and a small dining area adjacent to it. L'Aranceto serves Mediterranean style cuisine for a la carte lunch and dinner and there's a small bar with an espresso machine and liquor bottles. Pilates classes are held by the swimming pool. Staff can arrange local excursions and tours.
