Las Brisas Acapulco is a four-and-a-half pearl hotel set in the hills overlooking Acapulco Bay. Its 263 bungalow-style rooms and facilities are well-maintained but also pay homage to the hotel’s 60-year heritage with retro-chic touches. The property is designed to highlight its stunning hillside views over the surrounding bay and ocean. Each of the rooms includes terraces with private or semi-private pools; however, there are no beaches within walking distance and guests need to take a short shuttle ride to reach the common pools. Continental breakfast, Wi-Fi, and a fitness center are free, but there's a daily resort fee.

The Mayan Palace Acapulco is a gorgeous hotel in the Diamante district, on the southern outskirts of the city. Guest rooms are clean-lined and contemporary, with suites offering full kitchens and separate living areas. The property’s two buildings collectively feature two gigantic pools, a lazy river, an aqua park, an 18-hole golf course, and access to scenic Playa Diamante. Including facilities at the two sister hotels found on the same property, there are also more than 16 bars and restaurants; however, Wi-Fi surcharges and a late check-in time seem a bit stingy -- plus guests have no way of choosing between the hotel’s two very different buildings when booking. Add in the hotel’s complicated vacation club model, and it may not be worth the effort for some.

The Grand Mayan Acapulco is a four-pearl hotel located in Acapulco's Playa Diamante area. The 354 rooms are subtly stylish, featuring jetted tubs and private balconies. The hotel offers a striking pool, a pretty beach, and several pleasant on-site restaurants. Guests can also use the extensive facilities of the Mayan Palace resort, with which the Grand Mayan shares its gated grounds. The Grand Mayan is fine luxury property; however, Wi-Fi surcharges and a late check-in time may leave some guests feeling short-changed, plus room rates are exorbitant for guests who are not part of the Vida Vacations club.
