Hotel La Luna Blanca

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

Hotel La Luna Blanca is a quaint, Japanese-themed value hotel tucked away in a residential area of the beach town Torremolinos, a short drive from the city of Malaga. It's intimate, with personalized service and only 11 rooms on the entire property; they're spacious, and as with the rest of the residence, Japanese-themed. Although the beach is a 10-minute walk away, there is an adequately sized pool in the back garden and a private hot tub on the roof. The hotel offers authentic Japanese cuisine at its on-site restaurant, which has outdoor seating on the terrace.

Hotel Tarik

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

Hotel Tarik is a 95-room value hotel located across from the beach in the resort town of Torremolinos on the Costa del Sol. Restaurants and bars are in walking distance, but it's about a 20-minute walk from the historic city center. Rooms are simple and have somewhat dated decor, but most have balconies with sea views. The hotel's location on the beachfront promenade is great, and there's also an attractive outdoor pool surrounded by a spacious lawn for sunbathing. Buffet and a la carte meals are available, and the hotel offers bed-and-breakfast and half-board options. Most guests are couples or families with kids. It could be worth considering the Hotel Roc Lago Rojo, located 15 minutes away and offering a bit more charm -- plus a rooftop terrace and hot tub.

3

Melia Costa del Sol

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

Melia Costa del Sol is a mid-range resort that sits on the popular Bajondillo beach in Torrelominos, Spain. The nine-story hotel has clean, spacious, if slightly dated, rooms that are all equipped with sea-view outdoor terraces (except for the ground-floor accommodations). Sitting on the oceanfront promenade, Melia Costa del Sol has extremely easy access to the beach. The hotel has a pool surrounded by sun beds that guests can rent for a fee. There are a buffet restaurant, gastrobar, and lobby bar on the premises.

Sol House Costa del Sol by Meliá

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

The 350-room Sol House Aloha Costa del Sol is located on La Carihuela Beach and promenade, and offers a sun, sand, and surf-filled vacation spot with an all-inclusive option available. This upscale hotel has a full range of activities and evening entertainment for guests of all ages, including an extensive kids' program and cooking and dance classes for adults. Common areas and pools have been renovated, but the rooms are more basic. All are spacious and feature terraces (some with gorgeous views), but the decor is a bit generic.

5

Hotel Ritual

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

Pierre & Vacances Residents Torremolinos Stella Polaris is one of the few apartment-style hotels in Torremolinos, as well as one of the most modern resorts in the area (it was completely renovated in 2010). It overlooks Bajondillo Beach (stairs lead down to sea level) and is a few minutes' walk from many bars, restaurants, and shops at the city center. The rooms are simple but clean and contemporary, with wood floors, white bedding, and kitchenettes. There is a buffet restaurant on-site serving all meals and there is bar service from both pools (one being seasonal).

6

Sol Don Marco by Meliá

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

This upper-middle-range resort is conveniently located across the street from Bajondillo Beach and the beachfront promenade. It shares its features with two neighboring Melia Hotels (Sol Don Pedro, Sol Don Pablo), all of which make up The Don Hotels Complex, so guests get access to the amenities of three hotels for the price of one. There are eight different pools available with ample lounge areas, two buffets with show cooking, and multiple bars (including a pool bar). Other features of note include a small mirrored fitness center and a full-service spa with Roman bath, sauna, and whirlpool. Sol Don Marco is the quieter, more tranquil out of the three hotels that make up the Don Hotels Complex, with terraces in each room and partial sea views.

7

Hotel Riu Costa del Sol

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

The 325-room Riu Belplaya is a mid-range, all-inclusive chain hotel that's a short walk from Los Alamos Beach, but is not within walking distance of Torremolinos. The all-inclusive package includes all food and beverages, and many of the hotel's activities (but Wi-Fi is extra and isn't available in rooms). Meals can be taken in the hotel's two buffet restaurants, or at the poolside bar. The building has an early '70s facade, and the lobby has a dark wood color scheme and old-style furnishings. Most rooms have balconies and partial ocean views, but decor is dated. Along with a petanque court and a bowling green, there's a large outdoor pool and children’s pool, and an indoor pool that is open in the winter. There's also a kids' club with extensive activities.

8

Sol Don Pablo By Melia

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

Sol Don Pablo is an upper-middle-range resort that sits directly across from the beachfront promenade from Bajondillo beach. It shares its features with two neighboring Melia Hotels (Sol Don Marco, Sol Don Pedro), which together make up the Don Hotels Complex, so guests get access to the amenities of three hotels for the price of one. There are eight outdoor pools (two children’s pools) and one indoor pool (for during the off-season), all of which have ample lounge areas and are surrounded by gardens. The two buffets have show cooking, and there multiple bars, including a pool bar -- just note that some venues may close in the off season. Other features of note include a small mirrored fitness center and a full-service spa with Roman bath, sauna, and whirlpool. Sol Don Pablo is the largest and one of the more family-friendly options in the complex, offering entertainment and activities for all ages.

9

Sol Don Pedro

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

Son Don Pedro sits a short distance from the beachfront promenade that lines Bajondillo beach. It shares its features with two neighboring Melia Hotels (Sol Don Marco, Sol Don Pablo), which together make up the Don Hotels Complex, so guests get access to the amenities of three hotels for the price of one. Sol Don Pedro is the second-largest and one of the more family-friendly options in the complex, but it's also the farthest from the beach.

10

Royal Al-Andalus

Torremolinos, Andalucia, Spain

The 204-room Royal Al-Andalus is a chain hotel with an all-inclusive option on gorgeous grounds. Close to the beach and the center of Torremolinos, the hotel offers plenty of places to relax: by the pool, on a hammock, in the bar, or on the rooftop terrace, as well as numerous activities for all ages. The beach is a short walk away, and close enough that some rooms have sea views.

11

Riu Hotel Luca Costa Lago

The lush, pretty Hotel Riu Costa Lago is a mid-range, all-inclusive beach resort that hits all the sweet spots — a prime location across the street from the beach, quality meals and drinks, a handsome pool, activities galore, and a location not far from Torrelmolinos' restaurants and bars. The 256 rooms have balconies and air-conditioning, although the basic decor and old tube TVs could use a serious upgrade. Still, it's one of the best beachfront options in the area.
