This secluded and intimate bed-and-breakfast is a popular romantic getaway for couples celebrating anniversaries, honeymoons, and other special occasions. Its wooded and beautifully landscaped grounds host many weddings, too. Built in 1910 in the Craftsman style, this stone-and-wood building retains many of its original details, such as the lovely hardwood floors and dark-wood ceiling beams and paneling. Fine period antiques complement the wood framing. The striking light fixtures that decorate the dining room were purchased by the original owner during his honeymoon to Asia some 100 years ago. The five original stone fireplaces remain in working order, including one in the dining room. Inside and outside, there are lots of secluded spots where guests can sit, including a huge front porch that has stone columns and several tables, where guests can eat in warm weather.

The inn’s five-acre lot sits on a quiet, secluded hilltop that’s well off the road and borders the forest of Hot Springs National Park. It’s a six-minute drive to the national park’s Visitors Center and Bathhouse Row in downtown Hot Springs. The Magic Springs Water and Theme Park is also a six-minute drive. Note that there are no bars or restaurants in walking distance. The Oaklawn Race Track & Casino is an 11-minute drive, and Memorial Field Airport is a 17-minute drive. Lake Hamilton is a 20-minute drive, and Little Rock and its airport are about an hour's drive.

The Hilltop Manor's five suites are individually decorated in a thoughtful fashion. Decor reflects an antique style, and it showcases original features such as hardwood floors and dark-wood paneling, and stone fireplaces in the three Deluxe Suites, which also have whirlpool tubs next to the beds and beautiful tile framing in the large, walk-in showers. The Standard Rose Suite has whirlpool tub/shower combos. Period antiques or quality reproductions decorate many suites, but the Rose Suite has a bright motif that includes white-wicker furniture and mint-green walls. Still, the traditional decor that's found in the rooms may feel old fashioned to some, with details such as the floral or paisley print bedspreads. But most guests enjoy the look, and they praise the beds for their comfort. The 1,000-thread count linens also get high marks. Both Standard and Deluxe Suites are large, with small bistro-style tables and sofas or oversize armchairs. Bathrooms are spacious too, and most have small marble- or granite-top vanities, tile floors, and windows. Standard amenities include 40-inch flat-screen TVs with DVD players, free Wi-Fi, and robes. Deluxe Suites have mini-fridges and microwaves. Views of the lovely grounds are quite nice, and quiet reigns here.

This small, family-run bed-and-breakfast focuses on food and relaxation. Rates include a multi-course breakfast that guests rave about. Freshly baked bread, quiche, and French toast are typical items. It’s served in the main dining room, on the huge front porch, or in the suites. Free beer, wine, and homemade treats also are served every afternoon, and free coffee, tea, sodas, and water are available all day. Parking and Wi-Fi are also free, and guests can borrow from the inn's book and DVD libraries. Staff will help with restaurant reservations or arrange for tours.  Various packages, such as in-suite couples massages can be arranged, and the entire property is available for weddings. Note that children must be at least 12 years old to stay here.
