Jade Mountain, St. Lucia

Jade Mountain is one of the most romantic resorts not only in the Caribbean, but the world, thanks to its incredible Piton views and extraordinary design. The 29 enormous suites, called “sanctuaries,” are hands-down the highlight; through the innovative, open fourth wall, each has a view of a sea — from the canopied bed, raised whirlpool tub, and (in all but the entry-level category) private infinity pool. Organic cuisine is served from a chic open-air restaurant, and guests can expect unwavering peace and quiet throughout (there are no TVs or children). Though there is no beach, guests can take a short shuttle ride or hike down to use the two beaches, free water sports, and dive center at sister property Anse Chastanet. All in all, Jade Mountain is well worth the price and bumpy ride to get there.

Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, Dominican Republic

The D.R.’s classiest, most famous resort since 1974, the Casa de Campo hotel is part of a massive, 7,000-acre resort community that includes three world-renowned golf courses, an immaculate beach, a marina, the quaint “town” of Altos de Chavon, and numerous other on-site activities. Unlike at most Dominican resorts, no one is piled on top of one another here. With more than 11 square miles of property, there’s room to roam. It can take some time to get from place to place, but each of the spacious rooms comes with a golf cart for guests’ use. The recreated 16th-century village of Altos de Chavon even boasts a small chapel for an intimate wedding ceremony.

Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, St. Lucia

Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort, St. Lucia/Oyster

This luxurious Viceroy is truly a stunner. It has arguably the best location on St. Lucia, right in between the Pitons, St. Lucia’s famous volcanic spires, and on a beautiful white-sand beach. This 100-acre chunk of land is part of a larger UNESCO World Heritage site, and its history dates back to the 18th century when it was a working plantation (ask staff to point out the sugar mill). Its 79 rooms are minimalistic, chic, and mostly white, and all come with private plunge pools, butlers, and 24-hour room service; the larger villas and cottages offer living rooms and huge bathrooms (some with outdoor showers and hot tubs). The romantic tree-house spa is one of the island’s best.

Hermitage Bay, Antigua

A tranquil oasis set on 140 untouched tropical acres on the island’s western shore, the luxury all-inclusive Hermitage Bay offers 30 suites in individual cottages, all with private terraces, outdoor showers, deep soaking tubs, and sea views. Air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and minibars come standard. Chic hillside suites feature private plunge pools and panoramic views. There’s an open-air restaurant with rotating menus and a relaxed bar offering nightly entertainment. High-end amenities include an infinity pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga and cooking classes, and water sports at the pristine white-sand beach. The secluded spa offers massages and treatments for a fee. Kids ages 14 and up are welcome.

Round Hill Hotel & Villas, Jamaica

Round Hill is a phenomenal luxury property with a small private beach, about a 30-minute drive from the airport. Sincere hospitality, private child care, a beautiful plantation-style design, and breathtaking grounds make this property easily among the best resorts in Jamaica. Travelers can stay in the 36 hotel-style rooms designed by Ralph Lauren, which have four-poster beds, coffeemakers, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Its secluded, lush setting spans 110 acres, and is filled with hanging vines, seashell-filled sand, fruit trees, and lawns with hammocks. It retains a classic, plantation-style design, with original checkered floors in the lobby, an 18th-century chandelier with candles that are lit nightly, and lots of colonial-inspired furnishings.

Sandals Emerald Bay Golf, Tennis and Spa Resort, Bahamas

The 245-room Sandals Emerald Bay is a luxury all-inclusive resort with 500 acres of gorgeous landscaped grounds on Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas. This adults-only resort has handsome, spacious rooms, many of which are right on the resort’s white-sand beach. In-room amenities include HD smart TVs, minibars, and MP3 sound systems. Given its size, it’s not surprising that there are multiple pools and restaurants on-site, but the resort also includes tennis courts, a golf course, quiet areas, and a spa. With romantic fire pits, quiet pools, activities like diving, and entertainment, the resort is ideal for singles and couples.

Ladera Resort, St. Lucia

Pool at Ladera Resort, St. Lucia/Oyster

Ladera Resort is an adults-only, luxury hotel set on a forested ridge overlooking the Pitons. With private plunge pools and lots of local furniture, the resort’s 32 rooms, which are completely open to the elements on one side, make a bold impression. The rustic, chic decor found throughout the rooms and common areas connects guests to nature without skimping on style — although the open-air spaces and lack of TVs won’t be to everyone’s taste. Features include a wonderful restaurant and a clifftop pool, both with great views, plus a spa with outdoor mineral pools. There’s no beach on the property, but the resort provides free shuttle service to nearby Sugar Beach.

The Caves, Jamaica

With its upscale boutique vibe, and dramatic cliffside setting, The Caves is considered one of Jamaica’s most romantic escapes. The 11 unique, private cottages and suites at this all-inclusive property unfold along lush garden paths and dramatic seaside cliffs carved with steep stairways that lead down to the water and into incredible grottos. There’s a clifftop bar, a grotto bar, and private candlelit cave dining on offer. Top-notch food celebrates local ingredients, and the scene is laid-back and bohemian — suited to travelers who appreciate outdoor showers and artful decor in favor of conventional luxury.

Marigot Bay Resort and Marina, St. Lucia

This 124-room resort on Marigot Bay certainly takes advantage of its scenic (and hilly) landscape. Not only is it the most luxurious hotel in this part of St. Lucia, but the attached marina pulls in jaw-dropping sailboats and yachts from around the world. Families and couples can spread out in one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites with modern kitchens and washer/dryers, as well as at the two outdoor pools (one for adults only) and spa with yoga studio. Each room is assigned a personal assistant, and chic dining options include a rum cave and sushi bar.

Fowl Cay Resort, Bahamas

Crowded beaches are unheard of on this private island resort where a maximum of 28 guests at a time have free range of 50 acres and three beaches. Personal boats for daily excursions, on-call service, and a host of all-inclusive activities make Fowl Cay Resort a standout gem in the Exumas. Each villa includes its own fully stocked kitchen, spacious living room with massive flat-screen TV and DIRECTV, and multiple private terraces and decks. A small pool and bougainvillea-lined terrace are located at the island’s highest point, offering impressive views of the sea and neighboring cays.

BodyHoliday Saint Lucia

Pool at BodyHoliday/Oyster

BodyHoliday Saint Lucia bills itself as a place to refresh, refocus, and reenergize, and the resort offers guests plenty of opportunities to accomplish these tasks. The 154-room upscale, all-inclusive resort is one of the most luxurious on St. Lucia, with accommodations set in a series of buildings built into the hillside overlooking Pigeon Island National Park and a secluded cove and white-sand beach. The huge temple-like wellness center is the hub for daily spa treatments, but there are also endless activities, from yoga to archery, that motivate guests to stay active.

Sanctuary Cap Cana by Playa Hotels & Resorts, Dominican Republic

This 174-room romantic all-inclusive luxury resort looks like a Spanish castle town and is perched on a cliff by the ocean in the Cap Cana complex. The tall, multi-level Fortress building is a striking structure with jutting turrets and bridges over a moat (that doubles as a swimming pool). In the bowels of the Castle, hallways look onto an subterranean waterfall that fills a larimar-colored pool of water. They lead to an extensive spa area that has its own hidden interior courtyard with a half-moon pool and massage cabins. The beautifully decorated pools, spa, and restaurants are all among the D.R.’s best.

Cap Maison, St. Lucia

Cap Maison is a luxury hotel located in northern St. Lucia. The resort’s 49 rooms and villas have a Caribbean-meets-Spain feel, with local artwork blended with hacienda-inspired design elements. Set on the site of a former sugarcane plantation, the lush property is home to herons, hummingbirds, ospreys, and dozens of other birds. Most rooms have sea views, while villas offer full kitchens and separate living areas, along with other luxurious features like private pools or whirlpools. There are two beautiful pools, two brilliant restaurants, and a delightful little spa. However, the tiny beach isn’t particularly impressive.

Cocobay Resort, Antigua

One of the most charming all-inclusive properties on the island, the upscale Cocobay Resort is a romantic, adults-only clifftop oasis with sweeping views of Valley Church Bay. Colorful cottages offer 65 rustic-chic rooms featuring private balconies with hammocks and Adirondack chairs. Free Wi-Fi, coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and bathrooms with open-air showers come standard, but there are no TVs. Upgraded rooms add luxe perks like private pools or outdoor clawfoot bathtubs. There are two restaurants, including the trendy Sheer Rocks Restaurant (not part of the all-inclusive rate). Certain menu items and wines also cost extra. Other high-end amenities include three bars, four infinity pools, three beautiful white-sand beaches, a tranquil cliffside spa, and non-motorized water sports.

Cobblers Cove, Barbados

Cobblers Cove is a boutique luxury hideaway that blends British colonial elegance with Caribbean island chic on a pristine (albeit narrow) beachfront. Set among lush gardens, 44 delightful suites feature separate living areas and folding doors that lead to large patios with panoramic views. Intimate atmosphere and exceptional service attract many return guests, as does Camelot — revered as one of the island’s finest restaurants. Perks like free water sports (including waterskiing), afternoon tea in the grand Great House, and luxurious touches like twice daily maid service merely hint at the delicious surprises on offer here.

The Verandah Resort & Spa, Antigua

The Verandah Resort & Spa is an upper-middle-range all-inclusive resort set on 30 acres of beautiful tropical land on Antigua‘s northeastern coast. One of the most family-centric resorts on the island, the property offers plenty of activities for kids, including a kids’ club and a mini-golf course, but it also has designated adults-only areas. Warm, casual suites feature living areas with sleeper sofas, kitchenettes, and balconies. Two-bedroom villas, some with private plunge pools, are ideal for groups. Amenities include three restaurants, three bars, and three pools, plus two white-sand beaches, a gym, tennis courts, and a small spa.
