Part of this may be because Macau — an autonomous region on the southeastern coast of China — has the closest legal casinos to China, a country with over 1.3 billion people. In fact, gambling is so rampant in Macau that its revenues are said to account for over 50 percent of the entire economy. It has even earned the nickname “Las Vegas of Asia.” If you’re looking to feel the rush of putting it all on black or testing just how strong your poker face is, head to the famous casino-lined Cotai Strip. Here, you’ll find over 40 24-hour casinos. Make sure to load up on Hong Kong dollars, as this is the preferred gambling currency.
