This past Sunday night, we got to see a lot of thrilled winners climb the steps to the stage and accept little golden statues. But we saw even more stars fake smile and clap as they watched the other guy beat them out and take home the trophy. “It’s an honor just to be nominated” doesn’t quite soften the blow (it’s more like adding salt to the wound). But something that will lessen the heartache? A getaway. The losers from Sunday night should pack their bags, cut their losses, and get some R&R in a place far away from Hollywood. It’ll give them time to recoup — and it may be just what they need to be able to act their hearts out in their next film (the one they’ll be nominated and win for). The Loser: Michelle Williams

Losing to Meryl Streep — who already had two Oscars — can’t be fun. So Michelle Williams will probably want to get away for a little while. Even before her loss, she told Kelly Ripa that she wanted to take a break from acting to spend some quality time with her daughter. And her daughter’s idea of a great vacation? An RV trip to the Grand Canyon. That sounds like a lot of work, though, and we thought the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale would be the perfect spot for the adventure-seeking duo. This kid-friendly resort features an excellent pool complex, weekend bonfires, supervised educational activities — and a top-notch spa for mom. The Grand Canyon is less than a 4-hour drive away, but we figure that’s all the time you really need in an RV.

The Loser: Jonah Hill

We may have joked about it earlier, but it is an honor that this funnyman was even nominated (anyone see The Sitter? Yea, we didn’t think so). Nonetheless, he still may be a little upset over his loss, so we found a getaway that will suit his new healthy lifestyle –specifically, the Canyon Ranch in Miami. With some of the most beautifully decorated, spacious guest-rooms in all of Miami, a beachfront location, a great spa, a huge fitness center with a rock-climbing wall, and dozens of daily classes, it’s the perfect destination for a relaxing-but-healthy vacation. The Loser: Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt and partner Angelina Jolie have long had a love for Africa (they support numerous African-based charities, they adopted a daughter from Ethiopia, and daughter Shiloh was born in Nambia). But this time they should leave the kiddie clan behind — maybe Jonah can babysit now that he and Pitt are bff? — and embark on a romantic trip to Botswana. Plus, Brad’s not the only one who needs some R&R after the Academy Awards (Angie caught quite a lot of flack for her leggy pose). She’s lived in France since she was three, but Bérénice Bejo was born in Argentina and has made the country extremely proud to have a citizen nominated for an Oscar. So Bejo may want to head to her homeland and soak up the love at the Intersur Recoleta in Buenos Aires. The 100-room hotel is located in the affluent, residential neighborhood of Recoleta, and its elegance reflects that. From the facade’s stunning architecture and the lavish French-inspired decor (she’ll feel right at home), to the exceptionally helpful staff and the exquisite Italian fine dining at the Marcelo Restaurant, the hotel is striking and impressive in almost all respects. Whether she decides to bring her hubby along is up to her (sure, he directed her in her nominated role but then again, she may still be bitter that he did win an Oscar).
