We just got back from the beautiful Maldives, where we visited a dozen hotels to bring you in-depth reviews, gorgeous photos, and 360-degree panoramas. And since our trip, we've decided to put a little myth to rest; sure, making it to this picturesque cluster of islands can be quite expensive, many of its resorts are actually quite reasonably priced. To prove it, we're putting the spotlight on Makunudu Island, a small rustic getaway with 36 bungalows spread out over six acres of sand. Locals opened the property in 1982, and it is one of the oldest resorts in the Maldives; many guests have been coming for years. Other special distinctions: There is no Wi-Fi anywhere, and there are no TVs -- both intentional choices to keep guests relaxed and unplugged. Most will instead spend their days exploring the turquoise sea, popular for both snorkeling and scuba diving.
