The Hotel Indigo Atlanta is situated in an historic 12-story brick high-rise that dates back to 1923, when it was used mainly as off-campus housing for the men attending Georgia Tech. In 2004, the property was converted to the first hotel under the Indigo name, undergoing extensive renovations as late as 2017. The vibe is modern, theatrical, and hyperlocal, with lots of nods to the historic Fox Theatre across the street. Giant arched entryways open up to a spacious lobby where a snaking gray couch and clusters of modern upholstered furniture give guests a chance to relax. White paneled walls and chandelier lights lend a fashionable vibe, while open doorways lead to the lobby bar and restaurant on the left and a supplemental lounge on the right, where blackboard-style wall accents announce popular shows from the theater in trendy chalk writing. The Midtown location attracts a range of travelers, which include parents of Georgia Tech students, business guests, and theater-goers alike.

While the hotel isn't situated in the heart of Downtown Atlanta, it's well located in Midtown, catty-corner to the storied Fox Theatre and in walking distance to the restaurants and bars that line Peachtree Street. Bobby Dodd Stadium and Georgia Tech are about an 11-minute walk. For sights farther out, it's just a four-minute walk to the North Avenue MARTA station, which guests can use to get to Downtown sights like the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, the CNN Center, or the College Football Hall of Fame in about 15 minutes. It's also about an 11-minute trip north to the High Museum of Art. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is an easy shot on public transit, just a 25-minute ride.

Rooms at Hotel Indigo Atlanta are homey and contemporary with wood floors, white-painted wood furniture, navy bedspreads, and beige drapes, all still fresh from 2016-17 room renovations. White walls are accented with behind-the-bed murals in theater or music themes, and carpet runners were specially designed to mimic those found inside the Fox Theatre. Rooms are modestly sized, but bathrooms are downright tiny, with little turnaround space and narrow showers. They're contemporary and clean, though, with white tiling and white basin sinks. 

Rooms are equipped with individually controlled air-conditioning, desks, and small wardrobes with irons and ironing boards. They also have 32-inch flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and coffeemakers, but no mini-fridges. Bathrooms have hairdryers and free toiletries. Rooms with tubs are available, and upgraded rooms add more space or views of the Fox Theatre. 

Indigo Atlanta has amenities geared to add convenience for busy travelers. There's a nice lobby bar and restaurant, with the restaurant open into the evening and the bar opened until late. The menu is seasonal and focuses on local ingredients and breakfast is made-to-order, though not included in the room rate. Some outdoor seating is available, and room service is offered into the evening. 

The hotel also has a small, 24-hour gym with a weight-lifting machine, a few free weights, and some cardio equipment (two treadmills, an elliptical, and a stationary bike). There are three meeting and event rooms, the largest of which can host over 350 guests, with audiovisual equipment and catering available through the hotel. A small business center offers computers, printing, and scanning, plus Wi-Fi throughout the hotel is free.

The hotel is family and pet friendly, offering cribs and accepting any kind of animal for a per-room -- rather than a per-night -- fee. Guests rave about the helpful staff, and concierge service is available. Parking is offered, but it costs an extra nightly fee.
