The Water Club is an 800-room modern and exclusive escape from the bustle of Atlantic City. The resort has everything that other luxury properties in Atlantic City offer, such as numerous celebrity chef-helmed restaurants, several nightclubs, a theater, a pool, and a beautiful spa, but Revel offers a more serene vibe.

This behemoth hotel and casino on the outskirts of Atlantic City is a hub of entertainment, and arguably the city's premier destination. The 2000-room property (which opened in 2003) overlooks a marina at Renaissance Pointe and the elegant lobby features Dale Chihuly sculptures. Entertainment is outstanding, from celebrity chef restaurants -- including Bobby Flay Steak and Wolfgang Puck American Grille -- to poker tables, an Italian-inspired indoor pool, and spa treatments. However, beyond entertainment, there is no outdoor pool and the hotel is not within walking distance of the boardwalk or beach.

Caesars is one of the oldest properties in Atlantic City, but extensive renovations have kept it feeling like one of the newest. It's situated along the boardwalk, steps from the beach and luxury shopping, and has a dramatic lobby with Roman-inspired columns and painted ceilings. Though the overall feel is more up-to-date than boardwalk neighbors, some of the 1,140 rooms still show wear and tear, putting it at the bottom of our luxury list. If you stick to the Centurion and Ocean Towers, however, your rooms will have sophisticated decor, flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and spacious bathrooms. Upscale property amenities include an impressive spa, an adults-only rooftop pool with views, as well as a plush stadium-seat theater for live entertainment. Tack on gourmet restaurants, a clean casino, and decent nightlife options, and what you get is a dependable choice for luxury.
