Breezes
Resort is family-owned and operated, but unfortunately, this doesn’t infuse the
property with any particular local character. The 18,000-square-foot lobby is
one of the more striking areas of the resort, decorated with white Italian
marble and bold, colorful designs. Guest rooms, on the other hand, are what you
would expect to find at a generic resort anywhere in the world. The rooms are spread
between two towers, an eight-story west wing and a four-story east wing, with
the resort’s huge pool area at the center.The resort
mainly attracts couples, but its large banquet and meeting facilities also draw
plenty of groups and conference attendees. Its relaxed, upbeat atmosphere also
make it a popular choice for singles. The one type of guest you won’t see are young families, with guests required to be at least 14 years old to
stay here. The alcohol
flows readily and the vibe is certainly lively, but rarely to the point of
becoming obnoxious. The resort is on the smaller side, which creates a somewhat
more intimate ambiance. The exception is during spring break, when droves of
hard-partying students descend. The resort even includes an
outline of spring-break dates on its website, warning potential guests to
expect a different experience during this time of year.

Breezes is
located on West Bay Street, the main road running along the northern coast of
the island. The resort offers direct access to one of the island’s most popular
beaches, Cable Beach. And the Cable Beach Golf Course can be reached in around
five minutes on foot. Otherwise, there’s little to do or see within walking
distance. There are a number of stops for the local jitney bus along West Bay
Street, with regular service to downtown Nassau until early evening. Rental
cars are the best option for those interested in exploring the island; taxis
are also available, but they’re pricey. Downtown
Nassau is a 15-minute drive away, while the airport can be reached in around 10
minutes. The Fish Fry at Arawak Cay is less than 10 minutes away by car.

Guest rooms
at Breezes Resort are large and inviting, with many featuring cheerful
lemon-toned walls and water color artwork. The heavy mahogany furniture and
flowery linens are a bit dated, however, and some guests complain of tired and worn furnishings. All rooms offer flat-screen
TVs, free Wi-Fi, as well as wooden work desks, plus some have mini-fridges. Suites add separate living areas. Rooms have views of the hotel’s
green grounds or the ocean, with some featuring furnished patios with loungers,
hammocks, or tables and chairs. Some rooms also have direct beach access
through sliding-glass doors. Marble
bathrooms offer vessel sinks and glass-walled showers, plus toiletries are provided. 

Breezes
Resort features three freshwater pools and a hot tub, which are arranged over a
sprawling concrete sundeck lined with blue loungers -- but there are few shady areas. The largest pool has a volleyball net, as well as a
swim-up bar with submerged stools, while the smallest pool offers submerged lounge
chairs. Spa services by Blue Mahoe Spa are performed in an open-air
treatment hut by the pool. The resort also offers direct access to a 1,000-foot-long strip of Cable Beach. The stretch of
sand is surprisingly uncrowded and has lounge chairs for guest use. Cabanas
can be rented for a surcharge, which includes the service of a personal waiter.Breeze’s “super-inclusive package” encompasses a dizzying variety of activities, ranging from
kayaking to talent contests. The property has a flying trapeze, rock-climbingwall, and tennis courts, all of which guests can try out with free instruction
from resort staff. The
all-inclusive package also includes all meals and snacks, along with unlimited
drinks. The resort’s main buffet restaurant, Banana Boat, is open for
breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a special midnight buffet. This
massive restaurant is airy and contemporary, with lime-green or orange chair
cushions and banquettes. The curved center of the restaurant is designed to
resemble a ship’s bow.Other
dining options include Munasan, an Asian fusion restaurant (open only a couple of evenings a week), as well as Beach Grill, which offers casual snacks by the
pool during the afternoon in addition to dinner during the summer months. At the
Italian restaurant, Martino’s, low-lighting, dark woods, and red linens create
a warm, cozy ambiance. Garden of Eden is the resort’s stand-out
restaurant, with seating at elegant banquettes separated by
partitions, or outdoors in a pretty garden. The resort
also has four bars, many of which offer live entertainment. The lobby bar has a
stage, which hosts bands, cabaret, karaoke, and other performances. There’s
also a piano bar as well as a nightclub, both of which typically stay open
until the early hours of the morning.  There’s a
roomy fitness center with a great variety of equipment, including free weights,
rowing machines, stair-climbers, and treadmills. The resort also features four
meeting and banquet rooms, which can accommodate between 20 and 500 guests. The
meeting spaces are lackluster but tidy and practical. Wedding packages are
available. Free Wi-Fi is offered throughout, and free self-parking is available
in a lot across from the resort.
