Bottom Line

Paradise Island Beach Club is a three-pearl hotel set on Cabbage Beach. The resort is composed of 44 cheerful two-bedroom villas, all of which have roomy living areas, full kitchens, and private balconies or terraces. The property’s on-site amenities, which include two outdoor pools (one with a swim-up bar), Reef Bar & Grill, and a fitness center, are similarly generic. The only striking feature here is the direct access to beautiful Cabbage Beach. It’s worth comparing rates and amenities with the nearby Sunrise Beach Club and Villas which has fresher rooms and a prettier pool.

Scene

Homey property with apartment-style units and a relaxed ambience

Paradise Island Beach Club is a laid-back property, with breezy paths winding past leafy gardens and whitewashed villas. While the rooms and facilities here aren’t particularly dated, they’re hardly modern or stylish. Guests rarely need to compete for lounge chairs around the two outdoor pools or on the picturesque sundeck overlooking the beach. A pleasant lobby is painted powder blue and set with a cluster of white living room furniture. Arched white windows with white plantation shutters add some architectural interest to the space. All the villas are designed to accommodate between four and six people, so the property mainly attracts families and groups, with few singles or couples willing to pay for villas with unnecessary extra rooms. A lot of young families stay here for easy access to Atlantis, minus the frenzied atmosphere and high prices. A number of units, however, are time-shares, which seem popular with groups of seniors. The result is that the crowd here is an eclectic mix of families and older couples.Although there’s nothing especially outstanding about this mid-range property, it offers reasonable value on a notoriously pricey island. The nearby Sunrise Beach Club and Villas also features units with full kitchens, as well as access to Cabbage Beach, so it’s worth checking out both properties to get the best rate.

Location

Quiet location on Cabbage Beach, just off the island’s main thoroughfare

Paradise Island Beach Club is located on the north shore of Paradise Island, down a nondescript side street off Paradise Island Drive. The island is dominated by the Atlantis resort, which is about a 20-minute walk away. It’s possible to purchase day passes to access the resort’s dizzying array of attractions, waterslides, and entertainment. Paradise Island Golf Course can be reached in less than 10 minutes on foot. There's a cluster of restaurants and shops set at the end of Paradise Island Drive, a little more than a 15-minute walk away. Downtown Nassau and attractions like the Queen’s Staircase are a 15-minute drive over the bridge. The airport and Cable Beach are both around a 30-minute drive away. There’s free parking in a small lot in front of the property.

Rooms

Attractive villas with two bedrooms, large separate living areas, and full kitchens

All guest villas at Paradise Island Beach Club are two-bedroom units and identical, with the exception of their views. Private terraces or balconies can have views of the ocean or the hotel’s lush grounds. Full kitchens with light wood cabinets have a slightly older feel, but include full-size fridges, dishwashers, ovens, as well as ample cookware. A six-person dining table sits by the kitchen, and a short set of steps drops down into a sunken living area outfitted with big sofa beds, several comfy chairs, and flat-screen TVs. The white-wicker furnishings, tiled floors, and tropical wall art are a bit bland, but the blue-and-orange color scheme is cheerful overall. The decor is similarly subdued in the bedrooms, which include additional flat-screen TVs. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, with older fixtures and generic bars of soap. Bathrooms off the master bedroom have showers and dual sinks, while junior bedroom bathrooms feature shower/tub combos.

Features

Two outdoor pools, convenience store, and direct access to a stunning stretch of Cabbage Beach

Paradise Island Beach Club features two heated outdoor pools surrounded by decks furnished with chaise lounges. The smaller pool is typically quieter as its framed by the property’s lush gardens. The larger pool offers partial views of the ocean and a swim-up bar with submerged stools. The pool bar connects to the hotel’s restaurant, Reef Bar & Grill, which serves breakfast and lunch. With plastic patio furniture set on a wooden deck, the restaurant has pool views depending on where you’re seated, but its otherwise unremarkable. Many guests note that the bar and restaurant often close early. The hotel backs onto a wide stretch of Cabbage Beach, with white sands and few crowds. There’s also a scenic sundeck with chaise lounges and umbrellas overlooking the beach. The property includes a good-sized convenience and liquor store with a wide-range of ingredients, snacks, and general supplies for sale. The store also features a souvenir shop and a small deli counter. As you might expect, prices are steeper here than most other grocery stores on the island. There’s a medium-size fitness center with a good range of cardio and weight machines, as well as free weights. Large windows help to brighten the otherwise no-frills space. A spartan business center off the lobby features a single personal computer, in addition to a shelf with worn-looking board games and books. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Massage services are available for an extra fee from a third party provider.
