Scene

Basic budget hotel with modern interiors for travelers who don't mind relying on cabs

The hotel features modern, semi open-air common areas with bright and colorful decor and accents that make for a pleasantly modern place to bed down. There are only a few basic facilities on offer, which include a simple restaurant, swimming pool, and meeting rooms. 7 Days tends to stay quiet throughout the day, as many guests just use the hotel as a base to explore the surrounding areas, and are usually out the beach or downtown during the day. What little socializing happens at the property occurs around the large square pool with a swim-up bar and an adjoining kids' section. Alternatively, the spacious U-bar and restaurant features brown and cream interiors with orange color accents, and there are plenty of comfy couches and tables laid out. Keep in mind that the location along a large highway means traffic noise can be heard from the restaurant and some rooms. Additionally, as there's little within an easy walk, the budget-conscious guests drawn here will need to rely on cabs to get anywhere of interest.

Location

Along busy Sunset Road highway, a 15-minute drive from Kuta Beach and Seminyak

The hotel's location isn't its best selling point, as walking anywhere isn't really feasible. It's located on one of Bali's main highways, Sunset Road, and there aren't many restaurants or places of interest nearby. Guests will need to rely on scooters or cabs to get around. Directly next door is an ATM, 24-hour convenience store, and a large gift shop selling Balinese handicrafts. Eat Street is around a 15-minute drive from the hotel, and stretches from Laksmana Street to Petitenget with a great selection of world class restaurants, trendy bars, and stylish boutiques.

The nearest beaches to the hotel are Kuta Beach and Double Six Beach, both located a 15- to 20-minute drive away. Kuta Beach is long white-sand beach that's always crowded. The waves break along a soft sand bottom and are well suited to novice surfers. Plenty of vendors offer surf lessons and board rentals along the beach. Double Six Beach neighbors Kuta Beach and offers the same picturesque sand, sunsets, waves, though the vibe is more laid back. There are also some elegant beachfront restaurants and bars along Double Six Beach, including the relaxed Chez Gado Gado and the boho-chic La Plancha Beach Bar. Mal Bali Galleria shopping mall is located around 15 minutes drive from the hotel, and the largest waterpark in Asia, Waterbom Bali -- along with the airport -- are a 20- to 30-minute drive away, depending on traffic.

Rooms

Affordably priced and modern, with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and electric kettles

Rooms here are affordably priced and modern, though basic and on the compact side of things, with entry-level rooms having a footprint of just 215 square feet (20 square meters). Wide glass windows let in plenty of natural light, and make the rooms feel a bit larger, though many rooms lack views. While the decor is mostly plain, pops of gold and lime green add some much-needed color, and furniture comes in light wood-veneer finishes. Suites are roomier and have more elegant interiors, featuring gray and tan wallpaper, upholstered headboards, and landscape photographs on the walls.

Overall the rooms are well maintained and have decent amenities for a hotel in this price range. Each is outfitted with work desks and chairs, air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, safes, and electric kettles. Mini-fridges are only found in the suites. Suites also feature living rooms with comfy couches, and have TVs in both the living rooms and bedrooms. Keep in mind that Superior Rooms have minimal storage space.

Bathrooms are cramped and simple, though do feature decent-size vanities with large mirrors as well as soap dispensers and glass stall showers. Light sleepers should request rooms at the back of the hotel, as those near the highway will pick up traffic noise.

Features

A pool with a swim-up bar, an affordably priced restaurant, meeting rooms, and free Wi-Fi

The hotel's facilities are fairly limited, though adequate for a hotel in this price range. A square shaped pool is in the middle of the property, though it's not quite long enough for laps. It features a swim-up bar and kids' section, and is surrounded by a wooden deck with a few chairs, but no sun loungers. The spacious U-Bar and restaurant has plenty of couches and table for guests, and the menu has both Asian and Western dishes at affordable prices. The lobby is open day and night and has a lounge area with couches and a desktop computer for guests to use. Meeting rooms are also available at the hotel, and both parking and Wi-Fi are free.
