Bottom Line

The 144-room Best Western Kuta Beach is a mid-range hotel with a bright and contemporary design that’s within a five-minute walk of the beach, restaurants, and shops. Small, modern rooms have minibars, free bottled water, and flat-screen TVs -- but the frosted-glass bathroom doors don't provide much privacy, and some rooms have loud traffic noise. The rooftop pool and bar feature ocean views, and the colorful on-site restaurant is a popular spot. A business center, 24-hour room service, and free Wi-Fi are provided. Guests on tight budgets may want to compare rates with Adhi Jaya Sunset Hotel, which is farther from the beach.

Scene

A bright and vibrant hotel with an interesting design

This cheerful property caters to budget travelers who want modern amenities and chain hotel comforts. Colored glass and swirling designs adorn the exterior of the five-story building, where cars are parked out front and a few tropical trees flank the entryway. Heading inside, a vending machine and tourist brochures welcome guests into the small, contemporary lobby, decorated with dark gray tile, funky blue couches, a (somewhat chintzy) traditional Balinese statue, and a red, wave-shaped front desk. A friendly and helpful atmosphere flows through the hotel, with young backpackers, families with kids, and traveling couples all taking advantage of the affordable, well-located property. Taste Restaurant on the ground floor is bright and whimsical, with plastic chairs in neon-sherbet tones, and an open-air design that allows for views of leafy trees and plants. Triple S Rooftop Bar & Lounge is similarly decorated with multicolor chairs and a long bar lined with cherry-red barstools; gray rattan couches line a narrow, stone patio outside. Another gathering place is the delightful rooftop pool, which is narrow and tiled in blue, with a wooden deck lined with multicolored loungers, two-top tables, and pretty potted plants, all overlooking the ocean.

Location

Centrally located with many sites less than a five-minute walk away

The Best Western Kuta Beach is in a convenient location with Kuta Beach, Legian Beach, restaurants, bars, and shops within a five-minute walk. Beachwalk shopping center, Kuta Square, and the Bali Blast Monument are around a 15-minute walk. Waterbom Park, Discovery Shopping Mall, and Seminyak Beach are around a 15-minute drive away. Ngurah Rai International airport is a 20-minute drive from the property.

Rooms

Contemporary and colorful, with air-conditioning and minibars

Rooms are modern and small, with brightly colored walls, light tile floors, and nicely sized windows. Light wood furniture is accented with an eclectic array of seating options: bright red or yellow desk chairs, lime green couches, and wooden chairs affixed with colorful polka-dots, for example. All rooms are air-conditioned and have flat-screen TVs with cable, coffee/tea facilities, hairdryers, minibars, safes, desks, and free Wi-Fi and bottled water. Suites feature couches and dining areas, and Deluxe Rooms have balconies. Bathrooms are contemporary and charmingly decorated with multicolored mosaic tiling in the stall showers -- but the frosted glass doors are thin and may not provide enough privacy for some guests. Best Western toiletries are provided. Some rooms are susceptible to loud traffic noise.

Features

Charming rooftop pool with ocean views, plus on-site restaurant and bar/lounge

The rooftop pool has lovely ocean views and plenty of seating, as well as a modern bathroom. However, some guests note that another property built after the Best Western obstructs some of the ocean views. Also on the rooftop is Triple S Rooftop Bar & Lounge, with cocktails and beers on offer, as well as more fantastic views of the ocean. International cuisine is served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Taste Restaurant to mostly good reviews. The small business center in the lobby has two computers for guest use, and both room service and the front desk are available 24 hours. Concierge services are also provided, and airport transportation costs extra.
