The property is right in the middle of the busy downtown area, with lots of restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity. The rooms are small with tiny bathrooms, but clean and comfortable, and all come with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning. On-site facilities include a gym, a business center, and a restaurant with a free breakfast buffet, but there’s no pool and the beach is a half-hour walk away.
Scene
Urban-style hotel with some traditional decorative choices
This hotel is all city, but with a touch of the traditional. Its exterior resembles a cross between a chalet and a carport, which blends well with the busy street outside. Tropical plants and a few statues line the pathway to the check-in area, where Balinese sculptures are juxtaposed with black-and-white checkered throw cushions and similar accents on the columns. The hallways also incorporate the pattern, along with interesting textures, ranging from astroturf to layered cement. Though it looks contemporary, this theme is actually a traditional Balinese pattern and the Ibis Bali Kuta has won awards for including it in their interior design.
There really aren't many common areas in the hotel for gathering, though the smoking area offers a cemented outdoor deck space with patio seating. Due to the hotel’s proximity to the airport, most guests are passing through on their way to other destinations and only stay a night or two.
Location
Centrally located in downtown Kuta, close to the airport
The Ibis Bali Kuta is centrally located in the heart of downtown Kuta, five minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport. There are many shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity, including a convenience store right next door. The Black House Burger restaurant across the street and the nearby Nasi Pecel Ibu Tinuk are both popular dining options. The property is about a 30-minute walk to Kuta Beach, and a free shuttle ferries guests to and from the shore in a few minutes.
Rooms
Comfy and clean no-frills rooms
The minimalistic Single and Double Rooms in this hotel are small but clean and comfortable. The decor in rooms is limited to dark-wood floors, pine furnishings/headboards, and a bright-orange accent wall, along with the odd single piece of wall art. Small windows with limited views allow in a tiny bit of light. Instead of closets, the rooms have shelves for storing clothes. All rooms have wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, along with free W-Fi, electric kettles, and air-conditioning, but they lack minibars. Tiny bathrooms are best described as bath-pods and have a curvilinear shape. All have walk-in showers, hairdryers, and basic toiletries.
Features
On-site restaurant with free breakfast, business facilities, gym, and parking
The on-site restaurant, Rendez-vous, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers a varied menu. Outdoor seating on a charming wooden deck surrounded by a koi pond adds to the ambiance. The attached full bar is conveniently open 24-hours, and the daily Indonesian breakfast buffet is included in room rates.
There’s also a business center with three computers as well as three separate meeting rooms with podiums and audiovisual equipment. The simple gym could use a little upgrading, but does at least offer guests a place to squeeze in a workout. There’s no spa, but in-room massages and treatments can be arranged. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property and there’s a limited amount of parking on-site.
