Bottom Line

The 190-room Ibis Styles Bali Kuta Circle is a three-pearl, affordable chain hotel in the bustling town of Kuta, next to Mal Bali Galeria, a large shopping mall. This hotel isn't located on the beach, though the hotel provides a free daily shuttle to Kuta Beach. Rooms here are modern and feature flat-screen TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and bright pops of color; some have lofted second bedrooms, but as rooms face internally, they're not quite private. An all-day restaurant, Bagus, serves a free buffet breakfast and Wi-Fi is free throughout. There are also a rectangular pool and adjacent bar in the courtyard. A small fitness center, spa, and meeting rooms round out the available features. The Kuta Seaview Boutique Resort & Spa offers nicer rooms across the street from the beach for higher rates.

Scene

Three-pearl property with a modern, colorful design scheme

Located off a busy road, this affordable, three-pearl property is marked with the bright green ibis Styles logo. The entrance has stone wall reliefs, Balinese sculptures adorned with checkered cloths, and decorative purple umbrellas that fit in with the surroundings. The lobby, however, lacks any local touches. Instead, it features a striking red and white front desk, banquette seating, and geometric accents throughout. This design scheme extends to the all-day restaurant, Bagus, which has bright pops of color and wooden hexagon fixtures along the walls and ceiling.

Though there are an outdoor pool, a fitness center and spa, and bar, most guests only use the hotel as a home base after spending the day exploring the area. The majority of guests are families drawn by the spacious Family Rooms and Loft Duplex Rooms.

Location

Next to Mal Bali Galeria shopping mall in the bustling town of Kuta, about a 10- to 15-minute drive from Kuta Beach

The Ibis Styles Bali Kuta Circle is located next to the Mal Bali Galeria, a large shopping mall with several shops and dining outlets. There are ample restaurants and bars in the surrounding area, plus a Circle K supermarket a one-minute walk away. However, it's approximately a 10-minute drive or 25-minute walk to Kuta Beach, and about double to Legian Beach. The hotel does provide a free shuttle to Kuta Beach three times a day. The Ngurah Rai International Airport is about a 10-minute drive from the hotel, and transportation can be arranged through the hotel. There's free parking at the hotel for travelers with a car.

Rooms

Simple, modern rooms have bright pops of color, light wood furniture, and showers

The 190 rooms at the hotel have a clean aesthetic that blends light wood furnishings, dark wood flooring, and white bedding. Bright pops of color on accent walls and throw pillows bring a cheerfulness to the rooms. White wall fixtures with circle cutouts add an interesting geometric element. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, safes, and sandals. Bathrooms are also the same across the board, featuring gray-tile showers, hairdryers, and chain-brand toiletries. Though the shower doors are frosted, the open-plan bathrooms could pose a privacy issue for some travelers. Some rooms have balconies facing the courtyard.

Loft Duplex Rooms have an upper level with a king-size bed, and Family Rooms have sofa beds.

Features

Outdoor pool, free breakfast at the restaurant, and small fitness center and spa

Despite the low rates, the Ibis Styles Bali Kuta Circle packs a punch with the amenities offered. Notably, a breakfast buffet of hot and cold items is included in all room rates. It's served in Bagus, the all-day restaurant that offers a menu of Balinese, Western, and Asian cuisines. There's also a poolside bar open most of the day, and room service is typically available from late morning until around midnight.

The medium-size outdoor pool has a shallow section for kids, but because it's located in the courtyard, it lacks privacy. Not to mention, the restaurant has a few glass windows on the ceiling that look up into the pool. There's also a tiny fitness center on-site, with just a few machines and free weights. A spa with massage treatments is available, including one for couples. Two well-equipped meeting rooms are also on the property and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
