With only 20 villas, the adult-only Kayumanis Nusa Dua feels intimate and serene. Limestone and wood paths are lined with lovely manicured gardens and lily ponds, and a long stone passage connects the property with its own private beach. There is no lobby here, just a shaded reception area made with bamboo sticks where guests are checked in and assigned a butler and driver. Other common spaces -- including the restaurants and the lounge -- are housed in glass-and-bamboo structures that bring the outdoors in while keeping mosquitos at bay. Interiors in the lounge and restaurants are decidedly contemporary (think clean lines, tufted or modern plastic chairs, and carpets in red and orange hues), but the bamboo structures help blend the sleek interiors into the tropical gardens. 

The only other buildings here are the hotel’s 20 villas, all housed in stand-alone pavilions tucked away behind walled gardens. This allows for added privacy and relaxation, and makes the property feel exclusive and remote, despite its location near large beach resorts. The intimate, romantic vibe and top-notch services make the Kayumanis Nusa Dua a favorite among couples and honeymooners.

The Kayumanis Nusa Dua Private Villa & Spa is located on a private sandy beach, a five-minute drive from the heart of the area’s main tourist area: the Bali Tourism Development Complex. Although Nusa Dua lacks many of the cultural attractions found in other areas in Bali, those interested in shopping and dining will find a number of options here, especially in the area around Bali Collection, located a 10-minute walk away. Although mostly geared towards couples, the hotel is also a convenient pick for business travelers with big expense budgets, as it is located adjacent to the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center. The hotel is also a 10-minute drive to the impressive Water Blow and 15 minutes from Tanjung Benoa Beach, popular for its water sports and sea turtles. The airport is a 25-minute drive away. 

The hotel’s 20 villas are housed in their own traditional Indonesian pavilions with thatched roofs and handsome dark-wood floors. Tasteful interiors have a strong local feel, with four-poster beds equipped with mosquito nets, traditional furniture with lovely carvings, and natural fiber accents in rugs and ornaments. Additionally, each unit also has a number of distinctive touches that fit into a particular theme, including Balinese, Javanese, colonial and Palembang. Villas have either one or two bedrooms plus living areas housed in separate indoor-outdoor pavilions with long glass walls. Each unit has a small kitchenette equipped with a microwave, a sink, a coffeemaker, and a stovetop. Each of the villas also has a walled garden with a pool long enough for a few laps, and a couple of padded lounge chairs that offer lots of privacy. Bathrooms are luxurious and stylish, with outdoor areas equipped with showers and deep soaking tubs. All units have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, and personal butlers are assigned to every villa on arrival. 

This adult-only hotel has a private sandy beach a five-minute walk down a private path. Although probably not the prettiest, it offers a quiet spot for sunbathing and swimming, as well as some shade. At the crack of dawn, guests are offered an excellent (and free) a la carte breakfast at the beach club, which they can eat while watching the sunrise above the Indian Ocean. There are two other on-site dining options here, including a wonderful Indonesian restaurant with a lounge for evening drinks and an average Italian eatery. Alternatively, guests can request a personal chef, who will prepare full meals in their villas. Although each unit has its own private pool, there is also a larger common one in a shaded area with padded double lounge chairs and towel service. The serene spa offers massages and treatments, and in-room treatments are also available.
