Pretty grounds with three pools, plus a kids' pool
Beachside dining and drinking with well-liked local and international fare
Range of rooms, including lumbung-style units and Family Rooms
All rooms include air-conditioning, patios, and TVs
Massage treatments can be booked
Live entertainment and themed events on select nights

Most rooms are tired and dated
Hot water isn't always reliable
No proper spa
There aren't too many budget properties along Sanur's beachfront, giving Peneeda View Beach Hotel an advantage for travelers looking to save some cash. The 55 rooms range from Balinese-style lumbungs to nicer Seaside Rooms, though all are looking a bit dated and none have actual sea views (common in Sanur). Standard features include air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and TVs, though hot water can be unreliable. The lovely grounds stay quiet, and there are three pools, including one with a kids' pool. Beachside dining is a highlight, and food gets mostly solid marks. However, there's no spa and features are otherwise few. For a similar alternative, consider Besakih Beach Hotel, where rates are comparable and grounds are more lush, though rooms are less attractive.
Scene
Low-key budget property that capitalizes on its beachside setting
Among Sanur's beachfront properties, there aren't many proper budget options, making Peneeda View Beach Hotel an attractive option for those prioritizing bargains over style and substance. The grounds are tranquil and well-kept, with green lawns, Balinese style buildings, and only the sounds of guests quietly basking in the sun. It's the kind of place where travelers come to unwind for a week or two at a time, though frills are few. With that in mind, this is best for wallet-conscious travelers who don't mind a few sacrifices for the privilege of being right on the beach. In the late afternoon, the beachside restaurant is a decent place for sipping cocktails and soft drinks overlooking the promenade and the sea. Low-key entertainment happens on certain nights, though the vibe here is chilled overall. Expect to see families and mature travelers, most of whom are from Australia and the Netherlands.
Location
In the southern part of central Sanur, right on the beach
Peneeda View has a prime spot right amid all of the tourist-friendly hubbub in Sanur. It's situated right along the beach and beachfront promenade, and is at the southern end of the central part of town (to the north of the ongoing Hyatt project that splits Sanur in two [as of 2017]). You'll find plenty of cafes, bars, shops, and restaurants by heading north from the hotel's entrance on Jalan Danau Tamblingan. A 10-minute walk south leads to the trendy eateries and boutiques of Sanur's southern section. Hop in a taxi for about five minutes to reach the bustling little night market at the northern end of town, while it's 10 to 15 minutes by taxi to the boats that head to Nusa Lembongan. Budget up to 30 minutes to reach the airport, while Kuta and Seminyak are around a 45-minute drive from Peneeda View.
Rooms
Dated rooms with air-conditioning and TVs, though hot water isn't always reliable
The biggest sacrifice that you'll have to make during a stay here will be with your room. They're not unpleasant -- things are colorful, at least, and there are subtle touches of Balinese style -- but most units are fairly dated. Expect to see details like bamboo paneling, satin bedspreads, and lots of rust-colored accents. More attractive rooms -- like the Seaside Room that we visited -- have rustic furniture and four-poster beds, but while the name may imply sea views, those don't exist. Some rooms are also housed in traditional Balinese lumbungs, though interiors are modified so that the high ceilings normally found in this kind of structure aren't capitalized upon. Villas are set throughout the hotel's green-lawned grounds, and some have extra privacy from high brick walls.
Standard features include older flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. All rooms also included furnished balconies or terraces. Some rooms offer mini-fridges, and Family Rooms offer two separate bedrooms for adults and children. Bathrooms include either showers or shower/tub combos, with a decent amount of counter space plus towels and toiletries. The Seaside Rooms have rainfall showerheads and are a nice step up from other units. Keep in mind that hot water isn't always reliable, according to previous guests.
Features
Limited features include three pools, a kids' pool, and beachside dining and drinking
Given its budget status, there aren't a ton of features to brag about here, though for a hotel that only has 55 rooms, the three pools are extremely generous. This means that there's plenty of space and the water is rarely crowded, even when the hotel's at capacity. All are tucked into some tropical greenery, and one even has a kids' pool. There is a pool near the beach as well, though it's not an infinity option and doesn't exactly overlook the sea.
The hotel has plenty of lounge areas with seating, but the beachside restaurant is the most popular place to kick back. It serves drinks as well as food -- a mix of international and Indonesian dishes -- and has plenty of seating overlooking the promenade and beach. A breakfast buffet is available, but not included in all rates. The hotel also owns a restaurant that sits along Jalan Danau Tamblingan, serving eclectic fare in a trendier setting. Low-key entertainment is provided on select nights, mostly during high season. There is no spa, but massages can be arranged through an independent provider. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
