Bottom Line

This mostly contemporary upper-middle-range hotel is centrally located between Seminyak Beach and the famous Double Six Beach. The 115 rooms are showing signs of wear, but they're equipped with flat-screen TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and minibars. All have furnished outdoor spaces, while some add four-poster beds and private swimming pools. An array of features includes a large swimming pool with a swim-up bar, children's play area, spa, and two restaurants. Food receives mostly positive reviews, though the breakfast buffet included in most rates could reportedly use more variety. Free Wi-Fi adds to its value. It's worth comparing rates with the nearby Pelangi Bali Hotel, which has better maintained rooms.

Scene

Beachside hotel with a Balinese aesthetic that attracts primarily couples

This three-and-a-half-pearl resort is a decent beachside base in the heart of the vibrant Seminyak. The two-story hotel is one of the older properties in the area, and features an elaborate Balinese entrance off of a narrow lane that runs parallel to the beach. Other Balinese touches include sculptures, stone reliefs, and an elaborate vaulted ceiling in the lobby. Public spaces have a neutral-tone palette, interspersed with splashes of vivid color. Although it's beginning to show signs of wear and lack of maintenance, the hotel's location and amenities including the pretty pool with a swim-up bar help make up for it. The property mostly draws couples, in addition to families and groups of friends.

Location

Beachside hotel near Seminyak’s vibrant cafes, restaurants, and bars

Without a doubt, the hotel’s main drawcard is its beachfront location. Situated between Seminyak Beach and the famous Double Six Beach, Puri Saron Seminyak is a short stroll away from some of the area’s best bars, restaurants, and cafes, including La Plancha and Cocoon Beach Club. The Ngurah Rai International Airport is a 25-minute drive away, while Waterbom and the Discovery Mall are a 15-minute drive away. The lively area of Kuta is around 10 minutes by car. The resort offers free parking and a 24-hour airport shuttle service for a fee.

Rooms

Wide range of rooms with contemporary decor, albeit some maintenance issues

Blending modern facilities with traditional Balinese touches, Puri Saron Seminyak's rooms are bathed in neutral tones, with splashes of maroon and red. Some have more slightly dated-looking light-wood furniture, while others have attractive dark-wood furniture with gold detailing -- including four-poster beds with canopies. Floral artwork in each room adds a pleasant pop of color. The 115 rooms range from Deluxe Rooms and Bungalows to Junior Suites and Two Bedroom Pool Villas. All accommodation types come with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with a limited number of satellite channels, tea- and coffee-making facilities, safes, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Also standard are furnished outdoor spaces, but some are shared with other rooms.

Suites have separate indoor seating areas with couches and coffee tables, while the villas come with private pools, loungers, and gazebos. Modern bathrooms have showers, hairdryers, and free toiletries, and some add bathtubs. Occasionally, guests have complained of a sewage smell in the bathrooms and general maintenance issues. Some rooms can experience noise from the pool area and the nearby bars, but this is to be expected from a centrally located Seminyak hotel.

Features

Pool with a swim-up bar, two in-house restaurants, and a spa, but no gym

The hotel lacks a gym, but there are an array of other facilities available. Most notable is the large outdoor pool, with a sunken swim-up bar and fountain features. It has limited views of the beach and is surrounded by daybeds and tables. A spa offers a range of body and facial treatments, and there's a small play area for kids. Babysitting services are available at an additional charge, plus there are a business center and three meeting rooms. A tour desk is available to help with the arrangement of day trips. Wi-Fi is free throughout.

Those wishing to grab a bite on the premises can do so at one of the resort’s two restaurants. Mawar Saron Restaurant serves international cuisine in a semi-open setting dominated by dark-brown hues, while Champlung Sari Beach Pizzeria is an open-air, minimalist beachfront restaurant. The breakfast buffet, which is included in most rates, offers limited but plentiful Western options.
