Set on 20 acres of gorgeous tropical gardens bursting with kamboja trees and colorful flowers, the Samabe Bali draws travelers who want to get away from it all. The property comprises 81 suites and villas -- all housed in thatched structures with indoor-outdoor designs -- surrounded by lush grounds and soothing lily ponds. Interiors feature a sophisticated combination of contemporary and traditional Indonesian decor, including carved wood details, iridescent fabrics with flower designs, and clean lines throughout. The airy lobby has white walls and floors matched by delicate wooden accents and flower arrangements. Two small front desks with chairs provide personalized attention, and a wooden swing-style couch with expansive views of the grounds offers additional seating.

The property is located atop a cliff, with the gorgeous infinity pool and the grill situated closer to the beach, while the main restaurant, the lounge, and rooms reside higher up. This allows for expansive ocean views from all but four units and most common spaces. Although there are over 150 steps to get to the beach from the top of the property, golf carts are always at hand to shuttle guests between their rooms and the public areas.

Standard rates include tasty buffet breakfasts, plus comprehensive all-inclusive packages are available. These cover all food and drinks, water sports, shows, and wellness treatments.

The Samabe Bali Suites & Villas is situated at the end of a quiet road lined with other luxury resorts. The on-site beach is quiet and sandy, but there is not much else within walking distance. Although Nusa Dua lacks many of the cultural attractions found in other areas in Bali, those interested in shopping and dining will find a number of options here, especially in the area around Bali Collection, located a 10-minute drive away. The hotel is also a 20-minute drive from the impressive Waterblow as well as Benoa Beach, popular for its water sports and sea turtles. Striking Uluwatu Temple can be reached in about 35 minutes. Ngurah Rai International Airport is a 25-minute drive away.

Visitors on the all-inclusive package staying a minimum of five nights receive free airport transportation.

The Samabe offers 39 suites and 42 villas, all featuring spacious balconies or terraces with patio furniture. All units are stylish and elegant, with dark wooden floors, a soft neutral color palette, and lovely traditional Indonesian details, such as heavy wooden furniture with lovely carvings and throw pillows with embroidered flower and leaf designs. Glass walls and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors let the lush outdoors in and offer stunning ocean views in all but Garden Villas. Plush window seats, spacious living areas, and furnished outdoor spaces are inviting and add to the overall serene atmosphere. Ocean Front Honeymoon Suites and Ocean Front Honeymoon Pool Suites are popular options for romancing couples, and these guests receive free gifts such as sparkling wine, cake, a bath setup with flowers and candles, and lunch under a gazebo.

Villas have an even more sophisticated style than suites, with rugs in earth tones, elegant wooden furniture with upholstery in brown and green hues, and tons of throw pillows. Many suites and all villas have private infinity pools, most with relaxing ocean views. In-room amenities include all the basics expected of a luxury hotel, such as large flat-screen TVs, DVD players, sound systems, minibars, free Wi-Fi, and coffeemakers. Large bathrooms have separate deep soaking tubs and showers with double showerheads, as well as a wide array of toiletries, wood accents, and glass walls with shades for privacy. Villa bathrooms are massive, and have outdoor showers and charming hand-painted tiles around the tubs.

The property’s all-inclusive package (called Unlimited Privileges here) is one of the most comprehensive around, and includes dozens of daily activities such as one-hour spa treatments, cultural tours, non-motorized water sports, and painting lessons. Additionally, unlimited dining and unlimited drinks – including local wine and some premium liquor – is part of the package, with room service available 24/7. Those staying a minimum of five nights also receive free airport transportation.

The Samabe has its own private beach, a lovely, quiet stretch of powdery sand dotted with padded loungers and umbrellas. Free non-motorized sports are available here, and bar service (including food) is offered throughout the day. Overlooking the beach is the hotel’s gorgeous infinity pool, surrounded by loungers, cabanas, and umbrellas. Free cucumber eye compresses are offered daily by the pool, and Ring of Fire Pool Bar offers drinks, snacks, and light meals. Additionally, there are two other dining options on-site: casual Crystal Blue, serving European cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere with stunning ocean views, and Rempah-Rempah, which offers Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. Adjacent Te.Ja.Co lounge has a long drinks menu with hot and cold options. Free afternoon tea service is offered here, but it can also be requested in-room. All rates include a buffet breakfast at Rempah-Rempah Restaurant, or it can be delivered to rooms. For those wanting something even more special, private dining on the beach and in a cave are available for a fee.

The spa has two beautiful rooms and a sauna, and features a wonderful array of traditional Indonesian treatments. The gym is equipped with just a handful of cardio and strength-training machines, but there are also plenty of fitness classes offered daily free of charge, including yoga and tai chi on the beach. There are also a kids’ club, a wedding chapel with stunning panoramic ocean views, two fully equipped meeting rooms, and free Wi-Fi throughout. The Hospitality Lounge can be used by guests with a late flight, and features a mini-movie theater, a meeting room, and three showers.
