Bottom Line

Tanadewa Luxury Villas & Spa is an intimate luxury boutique for those looking for privacy and quiet. It offers 16 one- and two-bedroom villas with contemporary Balinese design, private plunge pools, open living and dining areas, and luxurious bathrooms with soaking tubs. The spa offers excellent treatments and an outdoor pavilion for couples, and the small fitness center has three machines, but there isn’t much else to do on-site. Although the hotel offers free shuttle service to Bali Collection and Nusa Dua, the location a 10-minute drive from restaurants, shops, and the beach may be a little out-of-the-way to some. However, travelers will be hard-pressed to find a more luxurious and private property in this price range in the Nusa Dua area.

Scene

Intimate luxury property with contemporary Balinese design and a quiet vibe

Popular with honeymooners, couples, and families with older children, the Tanadewa has a quiet, intimate vibe with just 16 villas, all tucked away amid lush tropical grounds or walled gardens. The small open lobby is decorated with simple yet elegant wooden furniture and a stone wall with a carved floral design. Right above it is the hotel’s only restaurant, which has a tiny dining room with a handful of tables, and large sliding doors that open onto a long balcony with additional seating. Decor here is equally simple, but rattan, wood and stone accents lend the space some local charm. The hotel’s hilltop location allows for sweeping views of the area and the ocean beyond from the lobby, the restaurant, and all two-bedroom villas.

Location

Isolated location atop a hill a 10-minute drive from Nusa Dua Beach

Tanadewa Luxury Villas & Spa is located on a winding two-way road a short drive from central Nusa Dua. There is a convenience store and a couple of food stalls nearby, but little else can be found within walking distance. The hotel offers free shuttle service to Bali Collection mall and Nusa Dua, each a 10-minute drive away, but some may find this location a little isolated. It’s a 20-minute drive to the Water Blow and the town of Kuta, and Uluwatu Temple can be reached in about 40 minutes. Ngurah Rai Airport is a 20-minute drive away.

Rooms

Spacious, elegant villas with private pools and open living areas

The hotel has 16 one- and two-bedroom villas, each with its own serene tropical garden and private plunge pool. Decor is elegant and stylish throughout, with a soft earth tone palette, dark wood floors, stone accents, and contemporary Balinese wooden furniture with clean lines. Open dining rooms offer direct access to the pool, and feature a bar area complete with a sink, an espresso machine, an electric kettle, and a minibar with snacks. Larger units have a separate living area with loungers and a daybed. Bedrooms are located on the second floor, and two-bedroom units have large sliding doors opening onto balconies with sweeping area and ocean views.

In-room amenities are on par with other luxury properties, and include king-size beds, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, iPod docks, free Wi-Fi, and free bottled water refilled daily. Bathrooms are spacious and luxurious with separate rain showers and deep soaking tubs with jets, headrests, and small flat-screen TVs. All villas also have outdoor showers, and are assigned a butler on arrival. Some One-Bedroom Villa pools are mostly in the shade, and water can be too cold to swim.

Features

A spa, a fitness center, a restaurant, free bikes, and free Wi-Fi

The hotel is known for its excellent spa, which offers a wonderful array of signature treatments, including water massages, facials, body scrubs, and mind releasing rituals. There is a small open pavilion for couples’ massages tucked away in a lush area offering lots of privacy, and in-room treatments are also available. The fitness center is small and lightly equipped, with just a treadmill, an elliptical, a strength-training bench, free weights, and Pilates balls. Tanalounge is a tiny rooftop restaurant serving regional and international cuisine with views and outdoor seating. Breakfast is served here every morning, but it is not included in all rates. The hotel also offers free loaner bikes, free Wi-Fi throughout, and free shuttle service to Bali Collection and Nusa Dua. A conference room is available for small meetings, and the hotel offers coffee break snacks and buffet lunch options for corporate events.
