Bottom Line

Citadines Sukhumvit 11 Bangkok, a mid-range apartment hotel with 127 rooms, sits in the heart of Sukhumvit Soi 11, one of Bangkok's biggest party zones. Designed for long-term stays, sleek and modern apartments include kitchens or kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs, and free WiFi. The hotel has a narrow rooftop pool, a small fitness center, and a guest laundry, and there's a supermarket down the street. The Nana Skytrain station is just at the end of the road, a seven-minute walk, but some guests may find the area seedy at night. Travelers seeking rooms with a bit more style might want to try the Somerset Thonglor in the trendy, upscale Thong Lo area.

Oyster Hotel Review

Citadines Sukhumvit 11 Bangkok

Scene

Contemporary hotel with stylish common areas

Like many hotels in Bangkok, design is slick at the Citadines, and from the outside, the gray minimalist structure with slats cut into its facade stands out from the old school office blocks surrounding it. The small lobby is decorated in sleek black and white shades, from the long reception desk to the flooring and couches to the two iMacs siting on a counter near the glass entrance. There's a newspaper rack, but the look is sparse -- it's an apartment hotel and long-stay guests are the ostensible demographic of this hotel, though clientele runs the gamut, from party-going couples and solo travelers to families and business travelers. The hotel is within walking distance of Bumrungrad International Hospital, and the hotel also draws medical tourists convalescing after procedures.

Location

In the wild and somewhat seedy heart of Lower Sukhumvit

Citadines Sukhumvit 11 Bangkok is located in the heart of Sukhumvit Soi 11, which is one of Bangkok's top party zones, home to famous clubs like Levels Disco and the renowned Q Bar, jazz bar Apoteka, and many more. Bistros, pubs, and restaurants line the street, and it's one of Bangkok's most happening spots. It can get noisy at night, and the Nana red-light area is not far away. While quite safe, those with fainter hearts may find some of the sights and wares at the Nana Night Market a bit risque. The hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from the Nana Skytrain station and bustling Sukhumvit Road -- the hotel does operate a free tuk-tuk shuttle to the station. Villa Supermarket is down the street from the hotel, and there are plenty of convenience stores nearby. Bumrungrad International Hospital is an eight-minute walk west of the hotel. Don Mueang Airport should take around 30 minutes to reach by taxi or car, while Suvarnabhumi Airport can take up to 40 minutes depending on traffic.

All rooms include kitchens or kitchenettes, which come with stove-top ranges, microwaves, toasters, full cutlery, glasses, pots and pans, and kettles.
