This cozy little boutique hotel is decorated in a modern, eclectic style with lots of photographs, paintings, and art pieces displayed throughout. It has a friendly vibe and gives guests a taste of authentic Thai living. That's in part due to its location in a neighborhood that's quite far from the major tourist hotspots in town. Additionally, previous guests rave about the helpfulness of the owner and his staff. The rooftop terrace is a popular place for gatherings, and there's an indoor communal space as well. This place is particularly popular with young travelers on a budget, but families stay here as well. 

Kama Bangkok is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood in the Bang Kho Laem district of Bangkok, south of more lively Silom and Sathorn districts. The hotel is surrounded by local residences, a convenience store, restaurants, shops, and a market. It's an authentic, local part of town and lots of great street food can be found nearby. The open-air Asiatique The Riverfront shopping center -- with shops, restaurants, bars, and a giant Ferris wheel -- can be reached in about seven minutes by car. The Surasak Skytrain station is about a six-minute drive from the hotel, though there's a river ferry station a 15-minute walk from the property. It can take up to 40 minutes to reach the sights of the old town and the clubs along Suhumvit Road by taxi, though this depends on the time of day (traffic is horrible during the day in Bangkok). Budget at least an hour to reach Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi Airports by car, though traffic is -- again -- variable.

This hotel offers dorm rooms with bunk beds and Queen Rooms with double or queen beds, some of which have en-suite bathrooms. Mixed dorm rooms sleep up to eight guests. They are rather dark, but each bed has a reading light and a small shelf. Linens and towels are provided, and there are lockers for storage. Small windows provide a little natural light, but the overall feeling is somewhat basement-like. There is no air-conditioning in dorms, and only ceiling fans provide cooling. Wi-Fi is free in all rooms. Dorms and some of the Queen Rooms have shared bathrooms, and the showers are a bit grimy and musty. Queen Rooms are basic, but modern, with white or gray walls and dark wood furniture with clean lines. Pops of color come in accents on bedding and artwork on the walls. Clothes hang on wall racks. Other amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air-conditioning, and kettles for tea and coffee. Some Queen Rooms have en-suite bathrooms. Soap and hairdryers are provided in these units. 

This simple hotel doesn't have much in the way of features, but there is a restaurant and bar serving local and Western fare for all meals. Guests can choose to have breakfast included in their rates or not. Options consist of an egg breakfast or yogurt, fruit, and granola. A communal area provides a sofa and chairs where guests can hang out. The rooftop terrace is a popular spot for hanging out and taking in views of the city. Tables and chairs are provided, with additional tables and chairs on the ground level by the street. An Apple computer and printer are available for guests to use, though Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
