Bottom Line

This cozy boutique hotel offers 40 small but attractive rooms and a convenient location directly adjacent to the Nana BTS station. Tucked into a bustling pedestrian street and surrounded by local shops and restaurants, this upper-middle range property is simple and feels youthful. The rooms are furnished in earth tones, with faux-leather moulded chairs and honey-colored laminate wood paneling and flooring. The cafe offers an invariable breakfast menu and Asian and international food for lunch and dinner, and there is a computer in the lobby for guest use. It's a solid value for what you get, though note that the similarly priced Royal President Bangkok nearby has a pool.

Oyster Hotel Review

On8 Sukhumvit Nana By Compass Hospitality

Scene

Contemporary five-story building with frosted glass exterior and small, simple spaces

This relatively petite structure has a frosted glass facade and an entranceway of dark gray stone accented with bright green plants in ceramic pots. Inside, the modern, high-ceilinged lobby has recessed lighting and striated marble floors and walls in pale gray tones. Couches with bright orange velvet cushions flank a traditional Thai statue, and more orange-cushioned benches sit beside the dark wood staircase, which has a translucent orange banister. There is a guest computer atop a bar-style table in the corner of the lobby, and magazines are piled on tables throughout the room. Light wood flooring combines with mirrored and wood-paneled walls in the restaurant, where soft gray and orange armchairs lend the room a comfortable feeling. Hallways are among the most interesting aspects of the hotel's design, with portrait photography by French artists, and carpeting decorated with a Google map image of Sukhumvit. The building opens up on one side to a small pedestrian street filled with businesses, and on another to a narrow tidy alley. Guests are typically tourist couples and families, as well as some business travelers. There's a youthfulness to the property's decor, but the scene is relatively quiet, as there's just one restaurant/bar and no other devoted gathering place.

Location

Adjacent to Nana BTS station in the Nana nightlife district

The property sits on a small busy pedestrian street crowded with massage places, dry cleaners, bars, clothing boutiques, and residential apartment buildings. Soi Nana, a popular night food market teeming with booths and carts, is a seven-minute walk from the hotel. The BTS is adjacent to the hotel, with its overpass level with the third-floor rooms, and gives very quick access to Siam Square (eight minutes). The airport is also an easy ride with a transfer (about an hour).

Rooms

Two types of rooms, bright and comfortable, if a bit small, with bathrobes and slippers

None of the rooms here have typical windows; nevertheless, they are flooded with light from frosted glass panels, and rendered brighter by white bedding and walls. Warm earth tone accents like faux-leather headboards, orange throw pillows, and engineered wood floors complete the rooms, along with framed black-and-white photos on the walls. Bathrooms are separated from the sleeping quarters by frosted glass, and have brushed chrome fixtures, glassed-in showers (with rainfall showerheads in premier Saffron rooms), and small sinks with virtually no ledge space. Saffron rooms are slightly larger, each with a velveteen armchair, coffee table, and bigger windows. Each room has air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a hairdryer, two free bottles of water, bathrobes and slippers, a safe, an electric kettle, a lightly stocked minibar, and a workspace.
