Bottom Line

Swissotel Le Concorde Bangkok is a sleek, four-and-a-half-pearl business hotel just north of the city's center. The 407 rooms are spread over 22 floors and offer great amenities and marble bathrooms, though some could use updates. This hotel's biggest selling point is its extensive list of facilities: a dozen meeting and event spaces, a modern fitness center, a luxurious spa, and an outdoor pool, along with five bars and restaurants offering everything from dim sum to Japanese fare. While some tourists stay here, the location isn't the greatest for getting to nightlife. Those wanting to be in the heart of Bangkok's popular Sukhumvit neighborhood might want to consider the small S31 Sukhumvit Hotel instead.

Swissotel Bangkok Ratchada

Scene

Elegant 22-story luxury hotel with a huge, sleek lobby -- popular with business travelers and Chinese tourists

Swissotel Le Concorde Bangkok is an elegant business hotel housed in a 22-story tower. The large lobby is elegant and features tall octagonal columns towering up to a fresco reproduction of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and a three-tiered chandelier, plus three floors of exposed mezzanine areas flanked by brass railings. The space is often busy with groups checking in and out, but it's big enough to not get too noisy, and there's lots of bench seating around a central carpeted area. More spaces for relaxing are available upstairs on the mezzanine floors. The huge reception counter has enough stations to accommodate the steady flow of people, a boon during the busy check-in and check-out hours. This hotel is particularly popular with business and convention travelers and Chinese tourists, but also attracts guests from Thailand and around the world.

Rooms

Wide range of rooms and suites with marble bathrooms, though some need updating

This hotel offers three types of rooms (measuring 39 to 40 square meters/420 to 430 square feet) and four types of suites that range in size from 44 to 170 square meters (474 to 1830 square feet). Rooms come in king bed or two twin bed configurations, and suite units all have king beds. Decor varies a bit depending on the category, and during our spring 2018 visit some rooms were still under renovations, including the Executive Rooms.Older rooms have tired decor with green or tan carpets, medium-wood furniture, and simple art prints with brass frames and fixtures all accented by saffron-colored bed runners and cushions. Refreshed room decor varies a bit, but units generally feature a fair amount of gray, with gray carpets and drapes, coordinating chairs or sofas (brightened up with solid-colored throw cushions in higher category rooms), and dark-wood desks and tables. Standard amenities found across categories include free Wi-Fi, minibars, kettles with tea and instant coffee, and electronic safes. Executive units are on the top four floors and add lounge access and coffeemakers. Bathrooms are big, with marble walls and floors, large vanities with makeup mirrors and hairdryers, and either walk-in showers and separate tubs or shower/tub combos.
