When guests step in the front door, they will find a sleek, relatively small check-in desk made of blonde wood that gives the space a modern, but somewhat impersonal, feel. Just past the desk is a display stand filled with pamphlets about tours of Barcelona. From there, guests can step into a larger lobby space, which is functional and contemporary. Tables, chairs, stools, and sofas in shades of purple, red, white, and black are arranged in clusters on grey-and-white color-block carpeting. A small area off to one side offers a couple of computers and printers for guest use that are situated on a high, narrow table with stools for seating.

While suitable for a business or leisure traveler, the hotel is primarily geared toward those on vacation. As such, guests will mostly see couples and families in the hotel's public spaces.

The hotel is housed in three buildings (two of which date to the 20th century and one of which dates to the 19th century), which are located on the famous La Ramblas in the city's El Raval neighborhood. This section of the city is a lively, multicultural spot chock-full of shops and restaurants. The Drassanes Metro Station is less than 350 yards from the hotel, which makes getting around Barcelona a cinch. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from Port Vell and Plaza de Catalunya. The Gothic Quarter is even closer, as it can be reached in a little less than 10 minutes by foot.

All rooms come equipped with safes, satellite TV, adjustable air-conditioning, free Wi-fi, and desks. Rooms are clean and somewhat nicer than one would expect from a three-pearl hotel. They feature simple, attractive decor with a modern look: Expect blonde wood, neutral colors, and crisp white linens. Most rooms are fairly quiet, though some guests have complained about noise in rooms facing Las Ramblas. Also, some rooms are a bit on the small side.

A total of 36 rooms offer balconies or terraces. Book a Superior Room with a balcony if you want views of Las Ramblas specifically, as the Junior Suites have outdoor terraces that look out on the El Raval district in general.

Arc La Rambla doesn't have much in the way of extras. While there's a pretty sundeck with chic lounge chairs, there's no pool. The hotel offers a continental breakfast, but it's only free for some. Its enviable location means guests don't need a car, but those traveling with vehicles may be frustrated that there is no parking. Bike rentals can be arranged in the lobby. The main perk the Arc La Rambla does offer is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and there are also two computers with Internet access and printers in the lobby. Lockers are available to rent for guests who need to store their stuff prior to check-in or before checkout.
