Stadt Hotel Citta is housed in a four-story building that dates to 1914, situated on a pretty, wide square that has a fountain and beautiful Romanesque and Gothic church with a clocktower. While not overly luxurious, the hotel's interiors are handsome, with dark-wood trim, marble floors, and decorative period arches and moulding. Guests gather in the elegant cafe and bar, with decadent Italian cakes and pastries in a display case, and a vintage newspaper rack. Its outdoor tables on the square boast mountain views, and fill up fast. The hotel's clientele tends to be couples, here for romantic getaways.  

Stadt Hotel Citta is located in the center of Bolzano, on the city's main Walther Square. It's near shops, restaurants, and bars, and pedestrian-only streets with limited traffic. It's two minutes on foot to Laubengasse, a street with medieval arcades, and it's also a two-minute walk to Bolzano Cathedral, a church with Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The Bolzano (Hotel Alpi) bus stop, University of Bolzano, and South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology are all within a five-minute walk of the hotel. The 13th-century Maretsch Castle is a 10-minute walk, and it's also within 10 minutes on foot across the Talfer River to reach Petrarca Park, Victory Square, and the Victory Monument. Bolzano Bozen train station is a five-minute walk or drive, and the nearest international airport is Innsbruck Airport, and hour and a half away by car. 

Guest rooms and studio apartments at Stadt Hotel Citta have simple, contemporary decor and an uncluttered look. There are attractive parquet floors, warm, honey-colored wood furniture and paneling, bright orange drapes, and colorful prints on walls. Some rooms feature Juliet balconies and views of Walther Square and mountain vistas. All units have desks, flat-screen TVs, electric kettles, slippers, and free Wi-Fi, but they lack mini-fridges. The bathrooms are tidy and bright, and have stall showers with removable showerheads, bidets, heated towel racks, hairdryers, and toiletries, and some feature stylish black-and-white tile floors. Studios add sofa beds.

Stadt Hotel Citta has appealing amenities and nice extras with tons of local flavor. For dining, the hotel's restaurant has outdoor seating on the square, and offers an excellent, free hot breakfast buffet, with a spread of cornetti (Italian croissants), eggs, apple strudel, cheeses, cereal, and fruit. Lunch and dinner menus feature regional cuisine, and there's coffee and ice cream on offer throughout the day. The bar and cafe has a solid selection of wines by the glass and aperitifs, plus Italian cakes and pastries. There's also a Sacher Shop (billed as the only one outside of Austria), with fine chocolates and pastries from the famous Vienna bakery. 

There's an on-site wellness center (closed in summer), with a Finnish sauna, steam room, hot tub, cold-water bath, Kneipp hydrotherapy pool, and a relaxation room with free herbal teas. The center also offers various massages for a fee, including sports massages, and anti-cellulite massages with almond and ivy oil. 

Other amenities include room service, a lobby business corner, and a 24-hour front desk with tourist assistance. The hotel has 70 daily newspapers in 10 different language, and has free Wi-Fi throughout, but there's a fee for parking. It's also pet-friendly, with one pet allowed per room.
