The Townhouse

The Townhouse occupies a 19th-century building that blends in with its neighbors. Inside, this upscale bed-and-breakfast is cozy and welcoming, starting with the sparsely furnished lobby. It's little more than an antique wood front desk paired with a bentwood chair and Oriental rug. But the ornate ceiling molding adds a particular grandeur. From here, stairs lead to the upper floors (there’s no elevator). The only other public spaces are the courtyard and breakfast room. The pleasant interior garden courtyard offers bench seating and some patio sets placed around lots of potted plants and a little lawn. Set under a skylight, the rustic breakfast room with wooden tables, white chairs, an antique wooden hutch feels both homey and stylish. Overall, it’s a charming and elegant bed-and-breakfast that draws mostly vacationing couples and families with its intimate and relaxed atmosphere. 

The Townhouse is situated a four-minute walk from the romantic canals in the city center of Bruges. With restaurants, cafes, and shops just a short walk away, it’s a perfect location for those who want to explore the city on foot. Het Minnewater, a lovely romantic park, is an eight-minute walk away, while The Markt takes 10 minutes to reach on foot. The Belfry Tower is a nine-minute walk away. There's a bus stop a four-minute walk from the hotel, and it’s a 35-minute drive to the Ostend-Bruges International Airport.

The four rooms at The Townhouse are individually decorated with stylish but homey furnishings. Accent walls with subtle tan or beige wallpaper and low-pile carpet in a cafe-au-lait color set the backdrop. High-end details like voluptuous leather armchairs and wrought-iron bedframes give a posh vibe, while cozy printed blankets and shelves stuffed with books keep things from getting too stuffy. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, kettles, espresso machines, and air-conditioning (though there have been complaints that rooms don't get cool enough in summer months). Free chocolates are a nice, welcoming touch. Bathrooms are elegant, with deep tubs, walk-in rainfall showers, vessel sinks, hairdryers, and Spa Essentials toiletries.

The Cinnamon Suite -- or the Family Suite -- has a living room area, plus a separate bedroom for children with bunk beds and an extra flat-screen TV. The Vanilla Suite and the Blueberry Suite have the best views of Bruges. Some guests have reported hearing traffic noise, though it's usually only an issue when leaving windows open at night. 

The Townhouse’s outstanding feature is its free three-course breakfast, served in the bright and charming dining room (or out in the garden courtyard when the weather is nice). Offerings include bacon, eggs, homemade yogurt, fruit, and pastries. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, and there’s a 24-hour honesty bar for guests. Two parking spots are available on-site for a fee.
