The Rocco Forte Hotel Amigo is a luxury, 173-room property set in the historical heart of Brussels. The location could barely be more central -- just off the Grand Place and minutes' walk from several tourist attractions. Rooms are spacious with an understated luxury, though those facing the street can be prone to noise. The clientele is mostly well-heeled tourists and corporate business guests, and the signed portraits of celebrity and VIP guests adorn the hotel bar walls to attest to their stay.

The Dominican is an upscale hotel housed where a 15th-century Dominican Abbey once stood, and it combines classic architecture with elegantly modern interior design. Geared toward a mix of business guests and high-end travelers, the centrally located, 150-room property offers luxe meeting rooms and a host of impressive amenities, including a stunning internal courtyard and the Cardio Gym & Spa, which includes a sauna, steam room, and vintage-style boxing room. Guest rooms have Nespresso coffeemakers and rain showerheads or full baths. For those who don’t mind spending a little extra, this hotel is a splendid choice for either staying in, or exploring central Brussels.

Part of the Thon Hotels chain, the upscale Stanhope has a boutique touch. Housed in a late-19th century residence, the 125-room Stanhope is within walking distance of the European Parliament, the Parc du Bruxelles, and the Sablon Antiques Market. With its white columns and floor-to-ceiling windows that look onto a courtyard, the lobby breathes elegance and country charm. In-room Wi-Fi is free only to guests who book rooms through the hotel's website. Because of its location, the Stanhope, which has a conference center and several meeting rooms, gets a heavy business clientele. The hotel's Brighton Restaurant and Library Bar offer convivial places to meet, eat, and drink. The fitness center is open 24 hours a day, and there's a sauna. 

A late 19th-century historic landmark in Brussels, the 286-room Metropole is best suited to guests wanting to experience a bit of antique grandeur -- and who are willing to pay for it. With glamorous meeting facilities, a fine dining restaurant with old world elegance, a fitness center, and full concierge service -- not to mention a central location within a 10-minute walk of Grand Place and lots of shopping -- this upscale property is ideal for both business guests and tourists. Although the carpet is worn in places and some rooms could stand to be updated, the hotel offers lovely guest rooms with window-side seating nooks, and large suites with incredible bathrooms. 

The elegant, upscale Hotel Le Plaza has 190 rooms spread over seven floors. It’s one of the oldest hotels in the city and is a listed historical building. It has hosted royalty and world leaders, and has a suitably grand feel throughout. Its location is also great, walking distance to the main sights of Brussels, and with plenty of restaurants and cafes in the immediate vicinity. There are ample facilities on-site too, including a restaurant and breakfast room, a fitness center, large conference facilities, and parking. 

The property, situated in the Louise neighborhood of Brussels, offers five different types of modern, apartment-style guest-room configurations. All units have full kitchens and large baths, and are clean if a touch spartan. Though the hotel is removed from the city center, visitors can still reach it in about 15 minutes via public transport.

The 196-room, mid-range NH Hotel Du Grand Sablon is a good choice for both business guests and tourists. It’s in a beautiful, cobbled square within walking distance of the business district and has a large meeting and conference space on-site. The rooms are a mixed bag, as some have been updated and are fresh and modern, while others are due for renovation. Construction on remaining rooms is due to start in June 2015, and will be done 20 rooms at a time.

With a convenient but relatively quiet location in Brussels’ financial district, about a five-minute walk from Grand Place and shopping, NH Grand Place Arenberg is reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the neighborhood. The 155-room, mid-range property looks and feels like a nicer chain hotel, and in spite of its lack of color and personality, it is clean and cheery. Guest rooms have comfortable beds and coffee/tea facilities, and the hotel offers underground parking (for a fee) and a modern meeting room. Its location makes it ideal for travelers doing business in the congress district, as well as tourists and even families. 

This mid-range, 354-room chain hotel, in a renovated Art Nouveau building designed around an interior atrium, is within walking distance of the Financial District and the Grand-Place and shopping district of the Rue Neuve, making it a convenient choice for business and leisure travelers. The high-ceilinged, large-windowed rooms are spacious and include small sitting areas, smart TV systems, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel has a small fitness center with an adjacent dry sauna, a business center, two restaurants, and a bar -- a nice touch in a neighborhood that tends to shut down by mid-evening.

A former movie theater, the Marivaux is now a mid-range, 96-room hotel. There are nods to the building’s cinematic history throughout the decor and it has a well thought-out mix of old and new furnishings. Guests can choose between modern and traditionally furnished rooms, all of which have air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi. The Marivaux has a good restaurant and bar, a modern fitness center, and a range of business facilities. It's centrally located and within walking distance of many major sites, but guests with cars will have to pay extra to park on-site
