Part of a larger complex complete with campgrounds, shops, restaurants, and even a laundromat, Ruby's Inn is bustling with budget-minded families and tour groups visiting Bryce Canyon National Park during the summer months. The large, Western-style lobby may be a bit kitschy but it's cozy, with high, wood-beamed ceilings, oversized leather chairs, and walls accented by stones and deer head busts. During the off season, things are quiet (and one of the on-site restaurants closes).

Campers and massive tour buses are constantly filtering through the complex -- complete with restaurants, shops, and camping grounds -- that Ruby's Inn is part of, and not surprisingly so; the property is just a mile from the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park. Aside from that, there's not much in the area. Most guests arrive by car. Salt Lake City (and its airport) is about four hours by car; Las Vegas is just under four.

Ruby's Inn's rooms are attractive and spacious enough for such a budget-friendly property. Standard, Western-style decor includes earth-toned furniture, dark wood headboards, faux leather throw pillows, and nature prints framed on the walls. All come with free Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs. Small bathrooms are dated, and they are oddly where you can find the coffeemakers in some rooms.

Families may opt to book the Family Suite, which offers some extra space, a microwave, and two large beds. Couples may prefer the King Room with Jacuzzi which has a whirlpool tub in a small area open to the bedroom. There have been numerous complaints of the rooms smelling musty.

There's no on-site fitness center at this budget property, but otherwise it delivers with two large pools (one indoors, one outdoors with an adjacent whirlpool), free parking, and a buffet-style restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. During the summers, a diner-meets-pizzeria is also open for all three meals, and there are nightly rodeos; both close during the off season. Old Bryce Town, affiliated with Ruby's, is a string of shops with a Wild West vibe (think: a wagon on display and fossil store). Mountain bikes are available for rental and travelers can get themed pictures at Old West Photos. This is a pet-friendly property.
