The Ayres de Recoleta Hotel is located on an avenue in the beautiful Recoleta neighborhood, home to the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Right outside, there are many restaurants and bars, and a big street market on the weekends.
Recoleta takes it name from the Recollect Fathers, a Franciscan order that established itself in the area during the early 18th century. In addition to a monastery, they also built a church and what would become the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Featuring striking 19th and 20th century funerary art and architecture, the cemetery today is the final resting place many of Argentina's most influential political figures; Eva Peron's tomb is one of the most visited.
Recoleta is also close to the National Library of Argentina and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Downtown Buenos Aires is a 15-minute drive away.
