The Pousada Cantinho de Geriba opened in 2010 and features two buildings. The latest annex was constructed in 2011 and the current owners are in the process of updating both the rooms and the public areas, with the work estimated to be finished in 2015. The pousada is mainly visited by local families, but it occasionally receives younger South American travelers looking for budget accommodations close to the beach scene of Búzios. The garden is quite small and has a tiny pool with a waterfall made from rocks. The terrace restaurant, front desk, and lobby look dated. White sofas show obvious wear and staff could stand to put more emphasis on cleaning in public areas.

The Pousada Cantinho de Geriba is located in a fairly quiet residential area 10- to 15-minutes' walking distance from the popular Geriba Beach. The immediate neighborhood has very few bars, restaurant, or shops, so a rental car makes transportation easiest. Busses pass by the main street, about a 10-minute walk away. 

Downtown Búzios can be reached in 10 minutes by car. It offers a lively scene, particularly during summer months and weekends. The heart of the city is Rua das Pedras, it has several restaurant, bars, shops, and art galleries. Búzios is also a well-known party city. Nightclubs along the Orla Bardot open around midnight. During summer months the city gets filled by passengers of luxury cruise liners.

The pousada offer simple rooms in four categories: Standard, Superior Standard, Comfort, and Deluxe. Most rooms come with private balconies and colorful hammocks. The lower category rooms are spartan: they feature a bed and a nightstand, but no tables or chairs. All have air conditioners, minibars, tube-style or flat-screen TVs, and ceiling fans. Past guests have complained about lack of storage space. Bathrooms are small, feature ceramic tiles and come with towels and tiny soap bars. The Deluxe Rooms offer more space and furniture. A sofa is set with red cushions and vibrant abstract paintings on the wall. They include large bathrooms with a shower and a whirlpool tub. 

The pousada has a small terrace that serves a breakfast included in the room rate.The buffet is quite basic, consisting of coffee, juices, fresh fruits, cakes, and white bread. Lunch and dinner are available on request. There is no separate bar, but drinks are available from the restaurant. The garden has a tiny pool with a waterfall and a table with a few chairs. Adjacent is a grill area, which guests may use freely. Free parking is available on a first come, first served basis. Outsourced laundry assistance is available for a fee and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. The front desk staff sell local tours and can assist in organizing airport transfers.
