Few mid-range properties offer this level of charm in Cannes. Hotel de Provence is small and has few on-site amenities, but things here are done with great attention to detail, and it shows. Upon entering the property, guests walk along a path lined with lush plants before crossing a small patio with tables, and arriving at the front door. The lobby doubles as a bar, with comfy seating, an upright piano, and an outdoor area with lots of tables and chairs. Inside, decor is homey, with all-white furniture, and a few paintings depicting beach scenes. Outside, however, decor is more contemporary and stylish, with teak furniture, a few Buddha statues, astroturf, and a lounge area featuring couches and a coffee table with candles. The homey feel of the interiors extends to the rooms, which feature cute decor typical of Provençal countryside homes (think: a light brown and cream palette, and blue checkered bed throws).

Hotel de Provence is located on a small one-way street lined with other hotels, and a couple of local businesses. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a few blocks, and Rue Meynadier -- a pedestrian street full of stores -- is a 15-minute walk way. Rue Antibes, which is one of the top shopping destinations in Cannes, is right behind the hotel. The beach and its promenade, chock-full of hotels, high-end boutiques, and restaurants is just a three-minute walk down the street. Those looking to explore the French Riviera by train can find Cannes’ main train station less a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport can be reached by car in just under 30 minutes.

The hotel features 30 rooms, including Singles, Doubles, Superiors, and a Suite. Additionally, there are two Studios in two separate buildings a few doors down from the main building. Rooms have charming Provençal decor, with lots of whites and light browns, as well as a few blue accents. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, double-glazed windows, heated towel racks, toiletries made with extra virgin olive oil, and minibars stocked with a couple of sodas and water. Most units are small, but some feature a furnished balcony or terrace overlooking either the street or the lovely rear garden. The ground-floor Double Room offers a sofa bed, and has been adapted for people with reduced mobility. The Suite is large and elegant, with a more subdued palette, and a separate glass-enclosed living room overlooking the huge wrap-around terrace. Studios have similar decor, and separate living areas with open kitchens.

The hotel features few on-site amenities. There are a couple of charming gardens with plants, teak tables, and umbrellas, and an intimate lounge overlooking one of the patios. The lobby bar is open 24/7, and offers drinks and a good selection of regional wines.
