The Doors of Cappadocia Hotel is located in the town of Goreme, within the historical region's famous "fairy chimney" rock formations. The area is quiet, has stunning views, and is a popular spot for tourists visiting Turkey. From the outside, the hotel looks like a well-preserved ancient structure, composed of off-white rock and marble, arched doorways, and stacked building design. Old carts and wrought-iron chairs also decorate the main courtyard. Inside, the design is a mix of arched stone ceilings, polished marble floors, and contemporary beige couches and chairs. As with most hotels in the area, the cave-style rooms and scenic vistas give the space a romantic vibe. Though families and groups of friends are common, most guests are vacationing couples.

Guests with mobility issues may have an issue with the hotel's location on a slight incline and its lack of an elevator. Though travelers that make the climb to the fourth-floor rooftop are rewarded with spectacular views across the valley and of floating hot air balloons.

The Doors of Cappadocia is aptly named as it is a great base for exploring the area. While some may find the initial incline to the hotel's entrance a nuisance, the location is hard to beat. Just a few minutes' walk into the center of Goreme, guests have convenient access to restaurants and tour meeting points in town. Nevsehir-Kapadokya Airport is about a 40-minute drive, while Erkilet Airport, in Kayseri, is about an hour's drive from the hotel. 

Doors of Cappadocia's 18 cave-style rooms have slightly different decor, but overall, guests can expect a cozy, rustic design with rampant stone, wooden furniture, and patterned rugs. Pottery, flower vases, and bright red fabrics give the spaces a warm, homey feel. However, with one small window in each room, the cave feel might not suit all tastes. Room amenities are solid, including underfloor heating, orthopedic mattresses, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, tea- and coffee-making facilities, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. All rooms also have sitting areas with sofas or armchairs. Some rooms have balconies -- the higher the room, the better the view -- and one suite has a fireplace. Large, pretty bathrooms have shower/tub combos with rainfall showerheads, wall-mounted hairdryers, and a range of toiletries provided; upper-category rooms have separate whirlpool tubs and walk-in rainfall showers.

The hotel's crowning features is its lovely rooftop terrace that offers beautiful panoramic views over the valley and is a great place to watch hot air balloons floating by in the mornings. This is also where guests will find the hotel's medium-size outdoor pool lined with a handful of plastic loungers. The adjacent restaurant serves a limited menu of local, organic eats and a free traditional Turkish breakfast. Bar service is also available here. However, there is no elevator and the rooftop is accessed via four flights of stairs, which might be an issue for some. The hotel offers free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property, as well as parking passes, though parking is fairly limited. Concierge service is available and can help with anything from restaurant recommendations and bookings to a selection of tours and activities.
