The hotel presents an appealing balance between indoors and outdoors; the restaurant, tiled in dark marble, is a main gathering point and opens up onto a terra-cotta patio overlooking the the sea cliffs at the back of the property. Behind the outdoor patio is a large, airy piano room and lounge replete with couches and easy chairs; a large chimney and fire pit sits in the middle. This may not be a good location for children, as there are no activities or facilities on-site to accommodate them. However, there is an outdoor pool they can enjoy.

The property is perched on cliffs overlooking coves that feel semi-private; it is situated a pleasant 20-minute walk to the north of the downtown of Platja d'Aro on a residential street. Driving from the Girona Airport takes about 30 minutes; private buses linking Girona airport to Girona, and then to Platja d’Aro, will take about two hours (one transfer and a cab ride to the hotel from the Platja d’Aro bus station are necessary).

The guest rooms here have a peaceful feel, with little in the way of decor save for the occasional framed print. A light color scheme is comprised of wood and wicker furniture, white walls, and white, plush bedding. The floor and bed frames may suffer from a little bit of visual wear-and-tear, in the form of dings and scratches; otherwise, rooms are quite clean and cozy. Many rooms have balconies; all have an AC and wall-mounted, flat-screen TV. Bathrooms are spacious, some with double vanities. Larger rooms come with bathrobes, slippers, and L’Occitane toiletries.

In addition to the patio tables and chairs set amongst the pines growing in the patio area, the hotel also has a lovely lobby with an ample number of chairs; there is also a small outdoor pool, and an adjacent spa that maintains a luxurious outdoor treatment area cloistered from public view by a wood shed. The spa, which offers massages with natural products, also includes a large indoor whirlpool. The fitness center, which is free with the room fee, has floor-to-ceiling windows, mirrored walls, and includes a large handful of machines, as well as a good number of free weights. The Mar Blau café serves aperitifs on the terrace, while Restaurante Mar Brava prepares traditional Spanish cuisine with modern flair. The beach is a short walk away.
