Bottom Line

Aqua Bay Club is a three-pearl hotel located on a peaceful stretch of famous Seven Mile Beach. The property consists of 21 individually decorated condo units, all of which offer bright living areas and kitchens along with furnished patios or balconies. Guests have direct access to an uncrowded stretch of sand, and the hotel has an appealing outdoor pool and hot tub area overlooking the coast. Like many other condominiums on the island, on-site amenities are otherwise limited. It’s worth comparing rates with neighboring Discovery Point Club.

Scene

Intimate, relaxed condo complex ideal for families and couples

Aqua Bay Club is a small property, comprised of a pinkish three-story building set on green grounds that emphasize local plant life, such as banana trees and palms. With only 21 units, there’s rarely a need to compete for a spot by the pool or on the beach. The property doesn’t really have any common areas, but this is relatively typical for condo complexes on Grand Cayman. The hotel draws a fair number of repeat guests, and you’ll often see regulars chatting warmly with the staff, adding to Aqua Bay Club’s already friendly ambiance. It attracts mainly couples and families, with its practical units appealing to extended-stay guests in particular.

While there’s not much to complain about here, the property doesn’t have any standout features to distinguish it from comparable condo complexes. Nearby condos like Discovery Point Club and Plantana Condominiums also offer access to Seven Mile Beach, nice pools, and well-maintained units, so it’s worth comparing rates with both.

Location

Serene location on the northern end of gorgeous Seven Mile Beach

Aqua Bay Club is located on the western shore of the island on West Bay Road, the Seven Mile Beach area’s main thoroughfare. It has direct access to a wide stretch of beach just behind the property. The atmosphere here is much calmer than the beach’s more touristy southern section. Although its neighbors are mainly other condominiums and hotels, a grocery store and a handful of restaurants are found within walking distance. It’s a five-minute walk to the access point of Cemetery Reef, one of the island’s most popular diving and snorkeling sites, and under a 10-minute drive to the Cayman Island Turtle Farm. The capital of George Town and the airport can be reached in 15 minutes by car.

Rooms

Inviting condo units feature full kitchens and patios/balconies with views of Seven Mile Beach

The units at Aqua Bay Club are individually owned, and thus the decor varies from unit to unit depending on the tastes of each owner. All units are tidy and pleasant, with furnishings that tend toward homey rather than luxurious. Decorative jars of seashells, beachy artwork, wicker furniture, and floral bedspreads are among the types of features guests can expect. The layouts of the units are virtually identical, with long hallways leading past one or two bedrooms and opening up into full kitchens, roomy living areas, and screened patios or balconies overlooking the ocean.

Most living areas have sofa beds, and all units include free Wi-Fi as well as two or three flat-screen TVs. Kitchens offer full-size refrigerators, ovens, and microwaves. Additional kitchen amenities vary somewhat, but all include plenty of cookware and cutlery. Most offer extras like dishwashers, spices, and blenders. Both bedrooms in the two-bedroom units have en-suite bathrooms, at least one of which features a shower/tub combo. Second bedrooms are furnished with king, queen, or sets of twin beds.

Features

Attractive outdoor pool, direct access to Seven Mile Beach, and BBQ facilities

Like most mid-range resorts in the area, Aqua Bay Club has features focused on relaxing by the water. The property features an octagonal outdoor pool overlooking Seven Mile Beach. The concrete brick deck surrounding the pool also includes a small, round hot tub as well as lounge chairs, beach umbrellas, and a few stone picnic tables. The pool area also features some colorful hammocks, as well as two BBQs available for guest use.

Aqua Bay Club offers direct access to a wide stretch of Seven Mile Beach, dotted with thatched roof huts and loungers. This strip of white sand is relatively quiet, and the snorkeling off the coast is reportedly quite good; however, the sand is a bit rockier here than farther south along the coast.

After providing a deposit, guests are given cell phones with local SIM cards to use during their stay. The phones and SIM cards are provided for free, but guests do need to pay for any calls they make. Free on-site parking is available, and free Wi-Fi is offered throughout. Aqua Bay Club features a number of themed package deals, such as honeymoon packages and dive packages, which include extra perks and activities such as car rentals or sailing excursions.

Be aware that there's no on-site restaurant or bar; guest are expected to make use of their unit's kitchens or head off-site to one of the restaurants in the area.
