Bottom Line

The Caribbean Club is a luxury boutique hotel located on Grand Cayman’s famous Seven Mile Beach. The 37 spacious one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites and villas are individually owned and exquisitely decorated, and all have full kitchens, large furnished balconies with ocean views, and some marble bathrooms with separate whirlpool tubs and rainfall showers. The Club has one of the nicest stretches of beach along the Seven Mile coast with white sand and calm waves, plus the hotel offers free cabanas. The beach and pool areas are not crowded, allowing for a quiet and serene tropical getaway. Luca, the restaurant, is one of the best on the island. The two things missing are breakfast and a spa. The nearby Ritz-Carlton may have more features (including six restaurants and a luxe spa), but units are not as large and the beach is crowded.

Scene

More like a luxurious private residence than a resort

The Caribbean Club, one of the most luxurious (and expensive) resorts in Grand Cayman, exudes luxury and elegance. Since the units are spacious, fully equipped, and have balconies with gorgeous views, many guests choose to enjoy the privacy of their villas instead of congregating in public spaces, especially in the evenings. Guests mostly keep to themselves and the property has more of a feel of a private (dream) home rather than a large resort.

The lobby is dark and not particularly impressive, although it has some contemporary furniture and a large central fish tank filled with sea creatures to amuse passersby. Luca, the restaurant and bar, is housed in the back of the lobby and is as elegant and sleek as the hotel. One of the top-rated restaurants on the island, Luca attracts non-hotel guests as well. Other highlights include an attractive infinity pool that overlooks the ocean and beautiful stretch of beach. Both areas are quiet and serene, and absolutely gorgeous.

Location

On the best section Seven Mile Beach, close to everything

The Caribbean Club is located on Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach, on one of the nicest stretches of coast the island has to offer. The street and surrounding neighborhood are busy and touristy, and have plenty of amenities within walking distance. The Club is across the street from The Strand, a large shopping center with a grocery store, plus there are several dining options in the surrounding area. It's a three-minute drive to Camana Bay, a huge shopping district with restaurants, cafes, and a cinema, or around a 15- to 20-minute walk. The Owen Roberts International Airport is about a 10-minute drive away.

Rooms

Caribbean perfection; the spacious suites and villas are like sophisticated homes, with balconies and kitchens

The Caribbean Club is made up of suites and villas housed in three separate areas: Beachfront Villas, Pool View Villas, and Tower Suites. Pool View and Beachfront Villas are all 2,700-square-foot three-bedroom units, while Tower Suites come in one-, two-, and three-bedroom configurations.

Each unit is individually owned and decorated, and though decor differs, there are similarities in the layout. Decor ranges from modern to classic, but is always upscale and appealing. Think neutral hues garnished with subtly beachy touches, like wicker details or cool blue and green accents. Kitchens have granite countertops and are well equipped with a full array of appliances, including full-size fridges, microwaves, and dishwashers, plus all cooking- and dining-ware. Large master bathrooms, some bedecked in chic white marble, have whirlpool tubs and separate walk-in rainfall showers. Each bedroom comes with its own bathroom. Other standard amenities include 32- or 42-inch flat-screen TVs in every bedroom and living room, electronic safes, and washers and dryers. Housekeeping comes twice a day and keeps the units immaculate.

One of the best features of the units are the porches and balconies that face the ocean (or pool in Pool View Villas, but even these have partial beach views). Some have massive wraparound balconies, and all are fully furnished -- many even have alfresco dining areas. The higher floors in the Tower Suites offer incredible views of the resort, including the pool and beach to the west and the North Sound to the east.

Features

One of the best-rated restaurants on the island -- but no spa or breakfast

One of the highlights here is Luca, the Club’s restaurant located in the back of the lobby. It's one of the best-rated restaurants on the island, specializing in Italian cuisine and seafood, plus it has an extensive wine list and massive wine fridge. Decor is sleek and contemporary, and there is a large and well-stocked bar. Diners can sit outside by the pool in a lovely shaded area strung up with lights. Customers rave about Luca's Sunday brunch in particular. Note that breakfast isn't served on the property.

Another highlight is the gorgeous stretch of beach that the hotel is situated along. It's spacious and tranquil, with powdery white sand and clear turquoise water. The resort provides plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, as well as cabanas that are free to use. Snorkeling can be done directly off the shore.

There's also an attractive infinity pool that overlooks the beach. The pool area is beautifully landscaped, with palms and other trees skirting the pool deck that's lined with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and two small cabanas surround the pool.

The hotel's modern fitness center is well equipped with Life Fitness machines, including stationary bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, and stair climbers, as well as strength machines, free weights, and balance balls. The fitness center is clean and spacious, and has great views of the island and the North Sound. Though the property lacks a spa, in-room massage services can be booked. Other amenities include a business center with two computers and a printer, a meeting room that accommodates up to 18 people, and a small gift shop that sells souvenirs and beach gear. Free parking is available in an underground garage with card access. Elevators located in the garage take guests directly to their floor.
