Plantana Condominiums

The grounds of Plantana Condominiums are lush and beautifully landscaped with palm trees and greenery, and have the feel of a private garden. Geckos and iguanas crawling through the property are a pleasant treat. There are grills throughout the grounds for guests to use and plenty of small footpaths surrounding the plantation-style buildings.

The property is quiet and serene. Many of the guests report feeling like they have the pool and beach to themselves at the end of the day. The gorgeous beach is spacious and peaceful, and not crowded with people and lounge chairs like the stretch in front of the Westin Grand Cayman next door. There is a large pool area that overlooks the beach that is also quiet and relaxing, with tables and lounge chairs.

With the exception of the beach and pool, Plantana lacks common areas. There is a small office and hospitality room as well as an on-site property manager to assist with guest needs.

Plantana Condominiums is located in the north central part of Seven Mile Beach. One of the best stretches of coast on the island, the beach is stunning and snorkeling right off the shore is excellent.

Situated on West Bay Road, the main, busy street in the Seven Mile Beach area, the condos are within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and a grocery store. Other amenities along the Seven Mile Beach area, including water sports providers, are a five-minute drive away. The condos are a 12-minute drive from the airport.

The 49 rental units are individually owned and decorated, with similarities in the layouts. Most are tastefully decorated, with thoughtful touches, such as Caribbean- or beach-inspired vases and art, are found throughout the condos. Some units do look a bit more dated, with lower-quality, busy printed comforters in the bedrooms and white appliances (rather than stainless steel) in the kitchens. In contrast, other units have living areas that are upscale and stylish. The living rooms have ample seating, flat-screen TVs, and a selection of DVDs and books. Oceanfront and Ocean-View Condos provide gorgeous views of the pool and beach areas from balconies or porches. The balconies or porches are large enough for a table and chairs.

The kitchens are fully equipped with full-size refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, and ovens, as well as plates, cups, utensils, and cooking tools. Some of the kitchens have been updated with stainless steel appliances and colorful subway tiles. All of the three units we saw had blenders, not provided in many condo-style properties (and very useful for making tropical drinks). There is also a washer/dryer in every condo.

The bedrooms are simply decorated with light, beachy furniture and neutral tones. Each room has an iron and ironing board as well as a safe. Bathrooms typically have shower/tub combos.

The beach and pool are the main features at Plantana. The condos have 350 feet of the best stretch of beach on the island. The sand is white and clean, and the water is clear, turquoise, warm, and calm. There are plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, and the beach is quiet, serene, and not crowded. Palm trees dot the edge of the sand and provide picturesque scenery as well as shade. 

Plantana has a large pool in the center of the property overlooking the beach. The pool area has lounge chairs with comfy cushions and tables. Charcoal grills are found in the pool/beach area and around the property; they are available for free for guests.

With the exception of the beach and pool there aren't many features -- no fitness center, no business center, and no restaurant. This is typical of other condo properties on the island, although nearby Beachcomber Grand Cayman, which has similar condos but is more expensive, has a fitness center.

The condos offer free Wi-Fi in all of the units and common areas.
