The rooms are small, but they're sleek and spiffy, with rain showers, pillow menus, DVD players, and flat-screen LCD TVs.

The Raming Lodge Hotel & Spa is a medium-sized hotel located just outside the east gate of the historical old city of Chiang Mai. Higher category rooms include free airport transfers and free minibar snacks. Traditional teak wood rooms have en-suite tile bathrooms, and some have terraces with exceptional river or garden views. There is a popular sauna and outdoor pool, as well as free breakfast served at the on-site restaurant and bar. No female guests or children are allowed at the hotel, and the rustic vibe and hotel's age (which shows in some spots) won't be for everyone. For more traditional digs, guests should consider Dusit D2, near the Night Market, which doesn't have a men-only policy.
