Bottom Line

The centrally located 353-room Cabinn City Hotel is a budget property. Its gray and white interiors are sleek and streamlined, and there's a year-round courtyard. The lobby holds a pleasant lounge and small business center with Apple computers. Rooms were inspired by ship cabins, and space can be tight, although some have balconies. Rates are calculated on either a per-person or per-room basis -- which is a plus for solo travelers. All rooms include coffee- and tea-making facilities, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel serves a continental buffet breakfast, which is included in some room rates. Budget travelers looking for more of a party vibe might want to check out the Generator Copenhagen hostel, which has slightly lower rates and a few more features.

Scene

Stylish budget chain hotel, with sleek gray-and-white decor and rooms inspired by steamship cabins

Located on a corner in a light-brick building with little charm, this hotel has a sleek, chic gray-and-white interior with contrasting pops of fuchsia. A glass staircase leads to the large, open lobby, with a metal-fronted reception desk, large windows, enlarged photos, and black-and-white tile flooring. The space also doubles as a small cafe, but prominent branding throughout doesn't do much for the ambience. Hallways and stairways are industrial chic, but the lounge has a warmer vibe, with attractive hardwood floors and black wicker-effect armchairs. The breakfast room is somewhat dark, but it has stylish ceiling spotlights that work to soften the cafeteria-style atmosphere.

Location

Centrally located within walking distance of sights and public transportation

On the corner of a public square in central Copenhagen, the Cabinn City Hotel is within walking distance of many popular tourist attractions, including the Tivoli Gardens and the main train station.- Five-minute walk to Tivoli Gardens

  • Five-minute walk to the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Museum
  • Seven-minute walk to Copenhagen Central railway station
  • Eight-minute walk to the National Museum and City Hall
  • 14-minute walk to Gammel Strand public square
  • 16-minute walk to pedestrianized Stroget shopping street
  • Six-minute drive to the Nyhavn entertainment district (17 minutes by public transportation)
  • Seven-minute drive to the Christiania neighborhood (17 minutes by public transportation)
  • 15-minute drive to Copenhagen Airport (23 minutes by public transportation)

Rooms

Small cabin-inspired rooms with tiny bathrooms

The Cabinn City chain takes its lead from Denmark’s naval traditions, and its 353 rooms were inspired by ship cabins, with gray carpeting and accent walls offset by splashes of pink along the wood trim. Space is at a premium -- Standard Family Rooms pack in two sets of beds along its walls. Other rooms have double and twin beds. Attractive gray wooden headboards have smart integrated bedside tables and reading lights, and window blinds give the rooms a contemporary look. Standard Rooms sleep up to three. Some rooms come with an extra self-assembly bed tucked away, which an additional guest can use for a fee. And some rooms have small balconies with French windows -- which bring added brightness to the small spaces. Pricier Captain and Commodore Rooms are slightly bigger, and incorporate pleasant blue accents.Bathrooms can be tiny, with pod-type all-in-one wet-room-style setups that don’t feel far removed from those on airplanes (Captain Rooms have larger bathrooms). Past guests have complained about the water pressure and noise from other rooms and the courtyard, and there are isolated reports of moldy and damp smells. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, phones, and small desks, along with coffee- and tea-making facilities.

Features
