Originally established in 1755 and completely renovated in 2013, Copenhagen's iconic Hotel D'Angleterre is among the most luxurious in Europe. Most of the rooms are contemporary suites with creature comforts. Its central location on the Kongens Nytorv means nearly all the city’s attractions are within easy walking distance. Prices are, of course, high. 

Home to an outpost of Copenhagen's oldest spa, the upscale Hotel Kong Arthur is a modern boutique hotel inside a beautiful historic building, in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of most of the city's major sights. In addition to the decadent Thai spa, the hotel's myriad features include three restaurants, several event and meeting spaces, on-site parking, bicycles to rent, and a top-floor art gallery. A daily happy hour is held in the fireplace-warmed lobby. Some guests complain of thin walls in older rooms, and some of the lower-category rooms lack air-conditioning. It's also worth noting that breakfast is not included in the room rate

All rooms and suites at this upscale boutique property have hardwood floors, beautiful four-poster beds, and a mix of modern and antique furnishings. Most rooms have open fireplaces and views of Tivoli Gardens, and spacious bathrooms that come with Aesop toiletries and rainfall showers. While the hotel has a handful of bars, restaurants, and meeting rooms, it lacks a spa, pool, and fitness center. 

The Scandic Palace Hotel is a historic, 169-room upscale hotel located in the bustling heart of central Copenhagen right on the City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) and at the end of the popular Strøget pedestrian street. It’s within walking distance to restaurants, shops, sights like Tivoli, and transportation including Copenhagen’s Central Station. With a cozy restaurant and bar, free Wi-Fi and breakfast buffet, and other extras, the Scandic Palace offers a full suite of amenities. Rooms are simple but chic, though some guests complain that the beds are uncomfortable and that hotel’s central location makes front-facing rooms prone to noise. Those on the market for a romantic hotel can also try the much smaller Nimb Hotel, which overlooks Tivoli and has more elegant decor but fewer amenities.
