Jardin del Eden boutique hotel

Jardin del Eden is Spanish for “Garden of Eden” and it's no surprise that meticulously landscaped vegetation defines the hotel’s compact grounds. Dark rattan furniture, sandy color palettes, and abundant thatched roofing further enhance its earthy chic appearance. The hotel plays up the luxury hideaway angle at every possible opportunity, with its pool barely visible amid the plant-life and a wrought-iron gate with key card lock providing access to the hotel from the street. Guests must be at least 16 years old, and the romantic atmosphere mainly draws couples.

Jardin del Eden’s main entrance is located along a steep, unpaved side road lined with a handful of other hotels and vacation rentals; however, for those on foot, there’s a much more convenient second entrance directly on Calle Central, Tamarindo’s main thoroughfare. This street forms the heart of Tamarindo’s entertainment and nightlife scene, crammed with restaurants, bars, and shops. Playa Tamarindo, a wide stretch of pale sand, is located on the opposite side of Calle Central. The less-developed beaches of Playa Grande and Playa Langosta are less than a half-hour drive to the north and south, respectively. Liberia’s airport is just over an hour’s drive away.

Guest rooms at Jardin del Eden have modern, distinctive decor that varies from room to room. Some feature bedspreads printed with Chinese characters and exotic statues or Moorish arched wall niches. Other rooms are subtler, decorated with wooden furniture and color palettes of pale blue or beige. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, digital safes, mini-fridges, and small coffeemakers. Higher-category rooms include whirlpool tubs and balconies or terraces. The hotel is set across the street from the coast, which means that sea views are partially obscured by greenery. Bathrooms have round vessel sinks, magnifying mirrors, walk-in showers, and bath products by Lavarino Cosso. 

Features at Jardin del Eden enhance its appeal and value, especially for its relatively affordable rates. The property has a lagoon pool surrounded by thick greenery, giving the area a pleasantly secluded feel. It's bordered by a row of thatched-roof shelters and beige lounge chairs and has  a wooden deck lined with daybeds, where various types of massage treatments can be booked. The hotel’s lovely open-air restaurant, La Plumeria, overlooks the pool and features hanging rattan light fixtures, as well as wood-beamed ceilings. A free breakfast buffet is served here in the morning, with a range of hot and cold items as well as an omelet station. The restaurant also offers drinks, light lunch fare, and a small a la carte dinner menu. A private path lined with vegetation leads to the street and continues across to the hotel’s beach garden. There’s a landscaped lawn facing toward the coast, which features thatched-roof huts and lounge chairs reserved for hotel guests. Just beyond this lawn is Playa Tamarindo, but there are no chairs directly on the sands for guests. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, although the connection can be slow in some areas. Free on-site parking is also available.
