Apollonia Holiday Apartments

Paphos, Paphos District, Cyprus

The two-and-a-half-pearl Apollonia is an affordable, family-run complex of 20 vacation apartments in the center of Paphos, just a 10-minute walk from the beach. Apartments are dated and kitschy but well-maintained and have fully equipped kitchens. Though the hotel lacks a restaurant or bar, it has a friendly, easygoing vibe that’s ideal for families or couples who want to cook themselves. There are always plenty of lounge chairs at the tranquil pool, as well as a convenient help-yourself snack bar and a shaded children's area filled with toys. However, there is no game room or organized kids' entertainment, meaning youngsters could grow bored during an extended stay.

Paphinia Sea View Apartments

Paphos, Paphos District, Cyprus

Paphinia Sea View Apartments is a two-and-a-half-pearl apartment hotel with a fantastic location overlooking the Municipal Baths and the main boardwalk in the touristy hub of Paphos. All of the units here are apartment-style, with full kitchens complete with washers/dryers, four-burner stoves, and microwaves. All apartments have large balconies with either full or partial sea views. While the self-catering facilities and excellent location keep regular visitors (mostly older British couples) coming back here year after year, there's not much in terms of amenities and even basics such as Wi-Fi and on-site parking cost extra. Note that credit cards aren't accepted.

Hadjiantoni Anna Hotel Apartments

Paphos, Paphos District, Cyprus

This mid-range hotel offers travelers a peaceful setting just north of Paphos, near Cyprus’s western coast. The grounds are beautiful, with quiet spots to sit in the fragrant gardens or by a lovely pool. Breakfast and lunch are tasty and reasonably priced at the restaurant, though neither is included in the rate. The 26 rooms all have kitchenettes with mini-fridges, kettles, and cooking appliances, making this a convenient pick for families. Guests report that it's the warm welcome and friendly service from the family of owners that really make this hotel shine.

4

Napa Plaza Hotel

Ayia Napa, Famagusta District, Cyprus

Situated in the heart of Ayia Napa, the 221-room Napa Plaza Hotel is a chic, upscale hotel with several restaurants and nightlife options in easy walking distance. There is a variety of posh dining spots -- from sushi to Italian to Greek -- all on-site. The hotel isn't on the beach, but there's a large outdoor pool with a pool bar. Rooms are stylish and modern, though Superior Rooms are a tad small, and may still have old tube-style TVs.

5

Malama Beach Holiday Village

Protaras, Famagusta District, Cyprus

The seasonal Malama Holiday Village is a sprawling complex of 166 apartment-style suites. Targeted towards families, the hotel has two large outdoor pools, a number sports activities, and a kids' club that runs six days a week. With a small market, two restaurants (one is lunch-only) and two bars, there are dining options on-site, and the main commercial area of Protaras is within walking distance. A small beach is connected to the property, with larger ones close by. Suites are simple and clean with full kitchens -- bathrooms have been renovated. Overall, this is a convenient and fun option for a low rate.

6

Aphrodite Beach Hotel

Latchi, Paphos District, Cyprus

The family-run Aphrodite Beach Hotel is a value beachfront property with 74 air-conditioned rooms, the vast majority of which cater to two guests (though there a couple of larger units with more beds for families). The hotel's biggest draw is its location right on pebbly Aphrodite Beach. There's no fitness center or pool, though one of the hotel's four conference rooms does have a spa-like vibe, with giant singing bowls, gongs, and a sectioned-off area for massages and treatments. There's also a restaurant with great spreads of Mediterranean buffet fare at all three meals. Half-board and all-inclusive rates are available.

7

Kefalos Beach Tourist Village

Paphos, Paphos District, Cyprus

Kefalos Beach Tourist Village is a three-pearl family-friendly apartment resort located right on the beach and a few minutes' walk from the Tomb of the Kings. The 259 apartments here range from studios to three-bedroom units, and all have kitchens or kitchenettes for guests who would prefer self catering over the property's optional all-inclusive offering. Facilities are on par with what one would expect of a more traditional resort and include indoor and outdoor pools, a large fitness center, and a seasonal kids' club. There are also a couple of restaurants and bars, but the food quality isn't great.
