The beige stucco building blends in with the sands of Daytona Beach that the hotel was named after. The property was renovated in March 2014, and has added some nice touches to the common areas -- black and white beach photography, earth tone rugs with floral prints, and fresh brown paint. Past the lobby, down the hall, is the hotel's dining area where free breakfast is served each morning; the space has nice natural light, wood furniture, and brown tile floors, and is decorated with more beach photography. Beyond the dining area are the doors leading to the outdoor pool, where there are plenty of white lounge chairs perfect for sunbathing and taking in the ocean views. The majority of guests are families and couples looking for an affordable beach vacation.

Hampton Inn Daytona Shores is located on Daytona Beach on busy South Atlantic Avenue. The property is within a five-minute walk of several restaurants including Porto-Fino Restaurant and Red Lobster. The main attraction of this property is the beach, but the hotel is also located within a 20-minute drive of Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Boardwalk, the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Ocean Walk Shopping Village, and Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. The closest airport, Daytona Beach International, is 20 minutes from the hotel, and Kennedy Space Center is a one-hour drive. Parking is free at the hotel.

All 114 of the rooms in this hotel are Standard Rooms, and come with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers. Each has a bed set against a dark red accent wall, with the other walls painted beige. The bathrooms include hairdryers and shower/tub combos. Although not exactly outdated, the casual decor and furniture are mostly plain and simple: white linens, carpeted floors, and a couple of beach prints hanging on the walls. Oceanfront rooms have the most spectacular views, and small furnished balconies. Note, that not all of the rooms face the ocean.

The best feature of this property is the beach, where the hotel offers free use of towels and toys. There is one large oceanfront pool on the property and a hot tub with plenty of chairs for lounging and sunbathing. Although the hotel does not have an on-site restaurant, it does offer a free hot and cold breakfast each morning along with on-the-go breakfast bags available Monday through Friday. Other freebies included here are parking, Wi-Fi, and cookies in the evening. The hotel doesn't permit pets, however there is an on-site kennel available for boarding furry friends. The hotel's small gym and the laundry facilities -- with two washers and two dryers -- are located on the first floor. There is no bar, but guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol to the pool or lobby seating area.
