Star Inn Hotel Premium

Located in a historic building, the Star Inn Hotel Premium Dresden im Haus Altmarkt, by Quality has a quiet atmosphere despite being right on a popular city square. Inside, marble floors and an open gray marble staircase make for a somewhat impressive entry, but there's barely a decorative accent and too much dead space to make it feel grand. The lobby is on the second floor, right above the elegant Wiener Kaffeehaus, and is simply a functional space with a reception desk accompanied by a shoe shine machine next to a vending machine. Guests are a mix of tourists, families, and business travelers who appreciate the bustling location. 

The hotel is in central Dresden on the edge of the Old Town, right on Altmarkt square, which is lined with local shops and vendors. The city's famous Frauenkirche church is a six-minute walk away in Neumarkt square. Zwinger Palace is an eight-minute walk away, and Dresden Castle, with its art gallery, is a six-minute stroll. For business travelers, the International Congress Center is a seven-minute journey by cab or about 14 minutes by public transit. The Altmarkt tram stop is a minutes' walk away, and the city train station is an 11- to 13-minute journey by tram. Expect a 25-minute cab ride to Dresden Airport, or more than a 40-minute trip on public transit.

The hotel's 123 modern guest rooms have sleek built-in furnishings and wood veneer paneling, and a cream-and-rust color scheme that lends a stylish edge in warm hues. Some units overlooking the square open to shared verandas. Standard Rooms have double beds, built-in wardrobes, and small desks with dark-wooden chairs. Nespresso machines come standard, along with mini-fridges and large 42-inch flat-screens. Free Wi-Fi is also included. Family Rooms sleep up to four people on two double beds. Premium Business Rooms add seating areas with leather armchairs, while suites have separate living rooms with couches and coffee tables. The modern bathrooms have heated towel racks and walk-in showers with removable rainfall showerheads. 

The Wiener Kaffeehaus is a great addition to the hotel with its traditional atmosphere and a classic terrace right on the public square. There's no full restaurant or bar, but the large breakfast space consists of two dining rooms with a sizable buffet spread for an extra fee. The hotel also lacks a fitness center, but other amenities include a 24-hour internet corner in the lobby, and there are four air-conditioned conference rooms located on the second floor, some of which can be combined to accommodate up to 200 guests. Self-parking is available for a charge, but Wi-Fi is free throughout.
