The 11-story building has dated apartment-style units that are in need of a decor update, though are equipped with kitchenettes (and occasionally washing machines) for convenience. A rooftop pool with mediocre views, decent 24-hour restaurant, and gym facilities provide all the basics, but there's little here that stands out. Leisure travelers wanting to see major sights should expect to taxi taxis or long rides on the nearby metro. Overall, this is a quiet property that delivers value for travelers wanting a reliable hotel before or after a flight.

The most attractive feature of J5 Hotels - Port Saeed is its proximity -- a four-minute drive, to be specific -- to Dubai International Airport. There's little else in the immediate area, aside from City Centre Deira shopping mall, which is a five-minute walk away. Some restaurants and shops are also within walking distance, though travelers wanting to explore sights will need to take a taxi or public transportation. The Deira City Centre Metro station is a 10-minute walk away, with access to most major sights. Sights in Downtown Dubai, such as Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa, can be reached in 20 minutes by car, while Mall of the Emirates is about a 20- to 30-minute drive.

Well-sized rooms are dated but comfortable and apartment-style. Expect old-fashioned wood furniture and plush neutral-tone seating, dark carpets, and colorful accent walls behind the beds in lilac, coral, or blue hues. Kitchenettes come with stovetops, microwaves, minibars, dishes, and cookware. Lower-category rooms have sitting areas while upgraded units have separate living spaces with dining tables. Standard amenities consist of flat-screen TVs, work desks, free Wi-Fi, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and closets with safes. Most bathrooms have shower/tub combos, though suites have separate tubs and showers. Bidets, free toiletries, and hairdryers come standard. 

Although features here are a bit average, they cover all the basics needed. For one, the hotel has a good-sized rectangular swimming pool on the rooftop that's heated. Although views are mediocre, it's a pleasant, quiet spot, and there are ample cushioned loungers with towels. An adjacent snack bar serves a variety of beverages and snacks. Additional dining is found at the 24-hour J5 Cafe, which serves international fare buffet-style for breakfast and a la carte for other meals.  

Although there's no spa here, a sauna, steam room, and indoor whirlpool are on-site. Additionally, the fitness center is well-equipped with cardio and strength-training machines, and free weights. Facilities are open from early morning until late. Four meeting rooms are on-site, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
